machete-the newest robert rodriguez vehicle. simply. ridiculous.
but i loved it. as with all rodriguez stuff, heavy on
impossible/improbable/impractible violence; skimpy on plot and clothing in
all the right places. 8.5.

Just saw The Girl Who kicked the Hornet's Nest.
I give it a 9. I really like it, rate it up there with the first, Girl with the Dragon Tatoo after a drop off with the second, The Girl Who Played With Fire. I'm a big David Fincher fan but I don't know how he's going to top this excellent Swedish series.

Agreed. Same character. I didn't mind it so much, though, but I wish there was just more. I understand the movie's supposed to be minimalist, but there wasn't much resolve or anything.

Next movie's gonna be The Life Aquatic with Steve Zissou. Still haven't seen it, but I'll probably watch it tomorrow.

Bwa-ha-ha-ha... I'm going to have to look for that one.

Green Hornet for us last night. Fun if you don't mind Seth Rogen really stretching his acting chops and playing Seth Rogen-in-a-mask. Whatshisname, the guy who played Col Hans Lada in Inglorious Basterds, was pretty funny as the bad guy. 7/10.

I watched Harry Potter And The Deathly Hallows Part I (http://www.moviewatchlist.com/movie-harry_potter_and_the_deathly_hallows%253A_part_i) movie last night. The movie is really incredible and marvelous. All characters of the movie done a superb job. But the bad thing is its split into two parts and i have so many suspense in its second part.
I rate it 9/10

The only thing that really stood out was the story; everything else was decent but not great.
The story is just incredibly inspiring or useful for anyone into art.
I think all teenagers should be forced to watch this.

The original King Kong. The effects were amazing for 1933. King Kong was a sympathetic character- no mean feat using a stop motion puppet, a giant hand, and a giant face. Surprisingly violent, Kong killed a lot of people. The famous scene on top of the Empire State building is a true classic. Requires a huge suspension of disbelief, but it deserves it. And no comments about the natives. This was 1933, cultural sensitivity was not a concern. And Fay Wray is a fine piece o' gorilla bait, too.

Soul Kitchen (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1244668/) - pretty fun variation on the 'Magic Chef' theme. Pretty much the opposite of Chocolat, say, in every possible respect (German vs French, rowdy vs repressed, mostly men vs mostly women)

Forbidden Planet (1956) w/ a 30yo Leslie Nielsen. Wow, that was simultaneously boring and funny because it is so different/unsophisticated in comparison to today's CGI everything. 5/10 for the acting and plot. 8/10 for its retro coolness...Robby the Robot's first appearance.

I thoroughly agree with the rating. Frankly, I long believed that it couldn't be done, but it sure was!

Curious that you rate The Two Towers most highly, though. Few people do. (My favorite is TFotR.)

Wait. Were you watching the theatrical release, or the director's cut? IMO TTT benefited most from the additional material and does rise to the level of the others.

Btw, next time you're bored, watch the "making of" extras on the DVDs. Fascinating stuff!

watched the theatrical releases. when it comes right down to it, i think the first one does an outstanding job of setting the table as it were. couldn't ask
for more out of a first installment. in a vacuum, by itself, it stands up the best solo. i just think that the second one has a harder job as the 'tweener'
installment, really helps to flesh out to flesh out the story and the ring's influence takes even more prominence. plus, i find it the bleakest of the three which
is more appealing to me cuz i'm a bleak dude apparently. i don't rate any of the three higher than a 9 but watched as a saga/trilogy seamlessly? a 9.5.

The film was nominated for seven Academy Awards, and it would have been eight had not Greer Garson already been nominated for Mrs. Miniver. IMO this is some of her best work: watch her eyes as she performs her "efficient secretary" role.
