Road Cycling - Carbon 4 Spoke or Conventional Wheels

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

I am building up a TT / triathalon bike and am weighing the diferences between carbon wheels like the Spinergy ones with 4 "spokes" or conventional wheels. I know there are high performing, light weigh wheels in both classes but what happens when a high tech 3 or 4 spoke wheel goes out of true?
I am thinking I am best sticking with a more conventional wheel with aero rims and a medium spoke count instead as it can be trued up easily.

The Spinergy REV-X is no longer made. It also had a weight limit of 170 lbs IIRC, and has a spotty reliability history. I have a set of their Xaero-X wheels on my Bianchi, and they have held up very well on the crappy roads of New England and my 200 lb frame on top of the bike.

Demon,
Thanks. I was looking at used not new......probablt even a better reason now to avoid them.
I have seen the Xaero wheels and liked them. far more affordable too.
