I read that Cadillac bikes were made by Schwinn who bought the brand from Shelby. Thats all I know. I'd like to know earliest date and if possible a site that has Cadillac pics through the years.
I also read that Schwinn, in the last few years, revived the Cadillac name and unlike the old bikes, the new ones are actually connected to the Cadillac car name.
I guess what I am asking for is a history of Cadillac bikes.
Was Shwinn and Shelby the only Cadillac makers?
Thanks.

I pulled this off the Cadillac Bike Shop web site.

Cadillac, the Wreath and Crest Emblem, related Emblems and the related vehicle
body designs are General Motors Trademarks used under license to Kent.

Costco sells (sold?) that RLE1.8 model for $600. Remove the decals and it didn't look like too bad a deal. 105 group is nice at that price.

I am not referring to the currently made Cadillacs . I am referring to the old Cadillacs, such as at...
http://daytona.craigslist.org/bik/1267151702.html which states, "I did some research on it and it seems to be a late 1930's to mid 1940's war time bike. It was made by Shelby Bicycled which was bought out by Schwinn later on."

I took the above line as you stating that Schwinn was making the Cadillac bikes as I was pointing out that they are made by Kent.

My "Schwinn Bicycles" history book mentions nothing of Shelby or Cadillac.

Here another Cadillac on Craigslist... http://daytona.craigslist.org/bik/1267151702.html
See first picture.
I called the guy and he said he found lots of stuff on line about them, but then he could not tell me any more than what is in the ad.

So, it looks like we have a little mystery here, but like all mysteries, it looks like it is based on fact. So lets find more facts.

EDIT::
I just found another Cadillac at... http://www.geocities.com/55chevy.geo/
See 2nd picture.

I was looking at a prewar Cadillac the other day. It did look suspiciously like my Shelby.
Have you asked over at www.thecabe.com (http://www.thecabe.com)?

I don't know anything about Cadillac, but I can tell you what I see in your Craigslist ad picture: This is clearly a "lightweight," AKA "English racer" so probably has 26 x 1 3/8 tires --either 590 or 597-- something like a Schwinn New World from the 1940's. They can be very nice bikes. They are not the most desirable of bikes, though; collectors of American bikes typically want characteristically American bikes, namely the cruisers with balloon tires, while people interested in English bikes want the real thing, not an American imitation. Too bad it's been repainted. Maybe the original paint is still intact under the new layer, but you can't bet on it.

At one time Cadillac was the house brand for Fridrichs in Cleveland. http://www.fridrichs.com/ You can call them up and ask for info. They've been in business for over 100 year and still family owned. It's a Cleveland landmark. We see lots of Cadillac bikes in N. Ohio. Good luck

I think Cadillac was put out by Chicago Cycle Supply Co. at one point (among other "brands" or re-badging). I've seen Schwinns from the 30s - 50s with that badge (until Schwinn stopped building bikes for other brands and did their own distribution).
