Advocacy & Safety - We Just Don't Like Bikes

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

Cyclists are not equals on the road:

"It's true that our roads are not set up for both motor and bicycle traffic. If bicyclists want to travel by their preferred mode, let them be licensed, taxed and insured so the state can provide them with proper lanes and trails that they have paid for, just as we motorists have." Could one of the mods please move this to the Advocacy & Safety forum?
(These activist recruiters/whiners get tiresome.)

Usually, people aren't dumb enough to think that paying motor insurance is what gives them the "right" to drive. Those two things are so obviously entirely unrelated. The poorly formed point about bikes causing everyone else to be inefficient is also brilliant. Who drives in 5th gear within city limits? On most city roads, the speed of traffic isn't over 30 mph anyway.
I wonder why papers feel the need to publish such tripe. Is the opinion of an idiot really worth anything? The only thing an uninformed, poorly executed argument can do is to spread information. Papers that print such garbage are performing a disservice to the public.

W.R. Hearst.
Take it from there.

I occasionally indulge in the pleasure of putting such numpties right on US law (the tiny amount I think I know ;)) and highway funding from 3.5l miles away, so I did.
