I am currently riding a Felt F85 (geared) and I want to get a fixed gear for cruising and just to have a diffrent type of bike to ride. I was looking at a surly steamroller, but I would love to make the bike totally custom. Any words of wisdom on the beset to obtain a hot ass fixie? Money really isn't an issue, but I would like to get something within reason obviously. I work at the tower messenger center and have saw some awesome fixies so I am getting the serious fixed gear itch! Thanks for any help you guys can offer.

Upgrade on Chicago and Western has a 53cm Soma in stock, Yojimbo's has a few track frames too, maybe Boulevard bikes also. Since you are a city boy, go with a steel frame.
Start there and try and throw the locals some coin.
If you aren't used to pushing fixed, a good starter gear is 42:16 - just my recommendation.
You won't see many of these (http://www.rivbike.com/html/bikes_quickbeam.html) around, and you can outfit it anyway you like. Available as a frame and fork.

... a hot ass fixie? ...
Get a red soma frame with black soma fork. I saw one built up by a local shop employee in boston area...really hot! (use black spokes)

^^Don't suggest he buys that that. It thing looks like Tron Boy should be riding it. ^^
I'd go down to Yojimbo's Garage. I was there yesterday and he (Marcus) had three nice track frames you could build up: a Steamroller, a DeBernardi (I bought mine from him and love it) and an Olmo Pista which I would have bought had I known he could have gotten it back when I bought my DeBernardi. All good stuff and he's got what you need. Know where it is?

Woah. Do you know the size on the DeBernardi? I've been looking for a small-ish (51-52cm) DB frame for ages. Thx.

Yeah I know where YoJimbo's Garage is...I am kind of hesitant to go there though. Last time I went in there to buy a bike Marcus was an ******* to me. I was just asking questions and what not, but I had 1300 bucks in my pocket to buy a bike because I heard he was having trouble and I was treated like a b*itch. Maybe I will give it another chance...
I ride a 58cm road bike now, but would i what something that big for a fixie? I am 6' 165lbs...
