My buddy has been looking to get a road bike for a while now, but as we all know times are tough. He found this and is planning on picking it up later today. Good find? Thanks!

Looks like a good deal to me. Some people spend 3 times that for 1/2 the quality.

It needs some TLC, but yes, a good deal.

I actually emailed the seller earlier today on the same bike with the thought of making it a budget triathlon/TT bike. I really don't need another bike, though, so good luck!

Great deal! With a little TLC, it would be a $200 bike.

If it is the right size for your friend it is a great deal.

The warning flag. The seatpost is missing, make very sure the seat tube and clamp area is not bunged, munged or destroyed.

Yeah, but if you don't have the spare parts available, it could cost more than $125 to get it road worthy again. I agree with Ronsonic. Inspect that thing thoroughly. It's obviously been neglected. Check all bearings for roughness, as it's possible they are all goners. But hey, maybe you can talk the seller down to $25.

Agree, buying a project bike, almost any project bike, only makes sense if you are ready and able to do the work yourself. If you have to pay a shop to do the work, even a free bike can end up costing more to fix up than the bike will be worth when it is done...

Well bad news. At about 3:00pm the guy said yeah you can come pick it up. My buddy got off of work at about 4ish and started driving to Pittsburgh, called the guy and the guy had sold it to someone else already. :-(

Thanks for all the imput though! hah

That bike would sell for 200-300 at least here all day long. Too bad he missed it.

:thumb: I agree.

Seatpost: $20
Seat: $20
Tires: $30
Cables: $10
Bar tape: $10

And thats for starters and assuming everything else is OK.
