In the friggin parking garage at work of all places. I successfully ride almost 20 miles, in the rain, arrive at work, turn off the wet road into the dry parking garage, make a left turn over the top of a painted square (black painted background with a white arrow painted in the center) and WHAM I hit the deck. Not even a moment to react.
Examining the painted arrow, I see that the cars coming in off the street have been dripping oily water on top of it, making it slicker than snot. I should know better. Sore hip and bruised pride are the payment for my moment of inattention.
Be careful out there.

Ouch! I'm glad that you've only got the minor injuries. The first days after a long dry spell are, of course, dangerous. And those painted arrows aren't safe anytime.
Last night on the way home I watched a truck trying to go up 178th from Southcenter to Sea-Tac. That's a steep hill (21% grade I think?) with grooved roadway. The jerk decided to start spinning his tires about 1/4 of the way up. He was full-stop and actually loosing ground before he was halfway.
On the other hand, I really liked having the air cleaned and moist again. Riding home last night and in this morning, even though I got wet, was extremely pleasant.

Sorry to hear about the damage to hip and pride. I rode like I was on ice this morning knowing how slick it can be during that first rain after a dry spell. I thought maybe I was being overly cautious. Maybe not.
Glad to hear there was no serious damage.
