Isaac Joule Aerotic

I'm a roadie. I've been a roadie for 4 years now going from a Devinci Imola to a BMC SLC01 Promachine and now I need something for the time trials because I'm starting back triathlons for the 4th year after this summer break where I've been doing road bike races only. I've been hesitating between the Cervélo P3 Carbon and Specialized Transition. A friend of mine made me discover Isaac road bikes the other day, he bought the Impulse on eBay for $1,400 and now since I need a TT bike I just can't get my eyes off the Joule Aerotic geometry. Just simple and efficient with ultra high density modulus carbon.

This one retails for $2,595.00

What do you guys think about that machine?

I'd avoid Isaac as it seems they're out of business or on their way to it. Nothing like looking for warranty support from a dead company...

That is a beautiful bike. If the entire bike is $2K I say get it as far as warrenty whp cares Calfee does carbon repairs if ever needed.....That is cool...

If I am going to spend over $2000 on a bike, I want it to be designed with aerodynamic principles. Unfortunately, Isaac just didn't do that. There was actually a hilarious thread over on Slowtwitch where an Isaac rep tried to explain some of their design from an aerodynamic perspective. None of it made sense versus what the other wind tunnel designed bikes like Trek, Cervelo and Felt. The rep eventually deleted all of his posts and his account.

The headtube is fat
The ISP is actually an aerodynamic disadvantage, because it has to stay over the 25mm minimum width that seatposts can go under.
The downtube is not anysort of NACA derived or approved airfoil shape

Damn good looking though.

Scott Plazma for the win :)

That's from the owner of a BMC TT03 :P

they look cool and i haven't heard any complaints from riders i've come across, but a big selling point of a tt/tri bike frame is aerodynamics and like triguy said, isaac doesn't do it right. plus dr pete's right about the company. when there are money troubles in a bike company, corners start to get cut and quality goes down. you don't think a company's best product leaves the shop on their last day of business when going bankrupt do ya?! the cost of a calfee carbon repair will be the difference between the isaac and a p3. imo it's a no brainer. then again, if you could push that price under 2k... it'd be foolish not to get it.

btw, i also saw the sh*tstorm on slowtwitch. i don't know for a fact isaac is having money troubles or going bankrupt. i've just read rumors and am commenting on them. not trying to spread any more.

Oh well since my main hesitation was between the Isaac and the P3, you guys ruled out my dilemma. But one sad thing is that Isaac manufactured their frames in Germany (tell me if I'm wrong) and Cervélo are manufacturing in Taiwan. Designed and Engineered by Vroomen in Toronto but Manufactured in Taiwan.

I say get the Isaac, for a couple reasons.
If they go under....you got the last one, sorta.
With white paint/ or cut the sticker Joule Aerotic becomes Joue Erotic...translates to Erotic Game, and you can't beat that.

Kind of.

´Jeu Erotique´ would be ´Erotic Game´.

Joue means cheek, as in side of face. Erotic does not exist in that spelling in the French language, but obviously would be widely understood.

Jeu, *slaps forehead* d'uh, still doable though, and I think that's a sexy frame. It's a got a certain panache to it lacking in other frames I find.

www.testrider.com has nothing but good things to say about it. as far as aerodynamics go...the most non aero part on a bike is the rider. the bike will not be holding you back. its light, fast, comfortable, and affordable.

I saw that vid too, they raved about it, particularly the quality of the carbon used (not that I know anything about that).

I´ve seen a number of Isaacs at local time trials here in Germany and they look very, very nice machines indeed.
If it fits, go for it!

Lol you buy a 2500$ frame and make it Jeu Erotic, that would be the sh1t, haha. If I find a Medium sized frame one, I'll do that.
