Road Cycling - What is the best cycle computer?

What cycle computer are you using and are you happy with it?

I currently use a Vetta V100HR and I am very happy with it. I am looking for a cycle computer with the heart rate monitor and a cadence all in one. I have not been able to find one. Any suggestions?

im thinking of getting a wireless one myself. but i was wondering how long is it before a recharge? and what type of battery does it use?

It all depends on what you need from a computer. I use a Polar 710i, which has wireless cadence, speed and power (if fitted). It also doubles as a watch and can easily be attached to different bikes. It has 5 programmable exercise sets, altitude, temperature and a back light for night time. All the data can be down loaded to a PC. The only down side is the price.

try the polar S710 or 720i....expensive (well they are here in Oz), but worth it for serious training.....I swear by mine....& its all wireless as well,

I have a flightdeck.... Its alright, but for the money I would probably get something else if I were in the market again..

ok I went and bought the Cateye Astrale 8 and so far I am loving it. Simple to install and use. Gives me what I was looking for in cadence, avg speed, max speed and distance.

I also bought a separate heart rate monitor so I can use it for swimming and running if I choose. Currently I don't swim but you never know.

I have been running a little bit but I think I will pick that up a little more.

Cycling is difinately my favorite.
the Cateye was $39 and change everywhere I saw it.

The polar was $49 at sports Authority where I bought, and much more at any of the bike shops that carried it

I found it to be very easy to install. Just run the wire down the down tube and secure with a couple of zip ties (several come with the unit).

The heart rate monitor of course is wireless :D

Well the "best" computer really depends on what you want. To me, I generally just want distance and average speed and a few other functions so any cheap computer that my LBS has in stock is the "best".

Get what you can afford and what you need. Specilalized has a number of inexpensive bike computers. I personally have one mounted on my road bike and I also use the Polar 720i.

The new cateye's are pretty sleek, especially the one with cadance and HRM built in.

The Polar s150 is pretty reasonable. I just got mine and love it! No cadence, but everything I need!
