Hi,
In an attempt figure out what to list my bike for could I get some help at determining the value. I hope I am not breaking any rules and I realize before I can offer up my bike I will need to post it in a different location. I have a 1982 Schwinn Voyageur SP that measures 27" on the down post (??mm) it is in great shape and I am the only owner. You can go to this link for pictures http://s846.photobucket.com/albums/ab24/mschuyler4him/?albumview=slideshow if this will help. I am new at this and I am not sure how to go about this so any help would be very much appreciated.
Thanks,
Mark

I have the exact same bike! I bought mine for $99 and paid a bit more than that to have it shipped to me. It was worth it to me since it is hard to find quality frames in this size. It was in virtually NOS condition except the hoods were rotted and the tires were very dry and lasted only about 500 miles. Mine also came with both the original racks.
Since it's an odd size it could be hard to find the right buyer locally. Shipping will be on the high side due to the size of the bike. Alas, I'd guess a value of $100-$150. It's a really solid bike but it's not rare or noteworthy.
On the other hand, there aren't many good 27" frames out there. You might be able to get $100-150 just for the frame/fork/headset. If you sold the rest of the parts separately that could increase your take a bit. Good luck.
Cables need some sorting out. Size (huge) is a big negative/challenge. Cleaned up bike should bring about $225. Given the size, it can take a while to get the price. Took me about a year to sell a 26 inch Schwinn locally (Craigs List). But it depends where you live. If you are in a hurry, you probably will need to sell on ebay.
Selling it locally will take some great marketing (so will ebay). You will need to understand bike sizing, there is no down post for example. A little time on Google and you will be an expert. There also are Schwinn catalogs on line, including your model. That will give you all the component info.
As is, $100 to $150 locally. You might find someone on ebay to bid it up over $200 in its current condition. Realize anyone looking for a supersized frame touring bike will drool when they see this one!!!
