I was going to do a detailed report to give you all a flavor of the scene up here. It's just not gonna happen; i started typing something last night and it's just too darn long. Guess I'll never make it as a blogger. Just imagine all the downhillers in the world converging on one place . . . and only 1/10th of them there to actually compete in Crankworx - - the rest are just on vacation to ride Whistler.
Sunday was the the long (15+-minute) Garbanzo DH. I've done endurance DHs before but this was insane! There was stuff I'd never even had the guts to go off before on the trails up here and they were part of the race course. I conquered every feature at least once in practice and had a not-so-stellar race run. Ended up 57th out of the field of 70 (and that's with 8 DNFs, so I only beat 5 people) in the 30+ bracket. There is just soooo much talent up here it's crazy. My run was 21+ minutes .
Today I did probably 10 or more runs down A-Line practicing for tomorrow's Air DH. A-Line has like 44 jumps, mostly big tables. By the end of the day I felt soooooo stoked! I cleared even a gap step-down that's eluded me every time I've been up here and hit all four in a rhythm section of big tables. But now, will it be fast enough to matter?
Gotta hit the hay - - one more short training tomoroow. i want to get in two clean top-to-bottom runs and then about Noon it'll be all on the table. I have no clue of any frame of refernce for my speed but I felt good and was hangin' with younger guys on my practice runs, just have to see.
looking forward to using the last day of my 3-day lift pass to hook up for some riding with never and Maelstrom. I'll be glad to get off A-Line and see the othe trails again. A-Line's fun but practicing a whole day on one trail with so many to choose here seems a crime.

Doug
