Professional Cycling For the Fans - Maybe a dumb and indelicate question

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

The live commentary I have been following made mention of nature breaks in today's (Stage 6) ride:
"The break has called a time out to commune with nature...."
So the question is what DO racers do when nature calls in one of it's forms? The above makes it seem like the lead group backed off a bit while someone took a nature break. What happens in the peloton?
Sorry if the answer is obvious to all but me, but ENQUIRING MINDS WANT TO KNOW!!!!

The peloton probably didn't even know about it.
What do they do when nature calls? They pull over and do their business.
The guys in the break slowed up together for that moment... would have been silly for one of them to attack and ruin their pace.

Or they go while in motion.
Surely they don't stop to pee though right? Number 2 I can understand, but peeing? All the Tri guys I know don't stop for that.
