Not so stealth anymore.... it came with several decal options and I decided to go with the classic look.

Forth Worth is a far ways from Bloomington, Indiana. I guess alot of stone cutters are breaking away from Indiana this time of year. My papa, he says it is ... how you say .. so cold. :innocent:

That 7.5 FX Is an excellent machine! Take it easy - in a vacant parking lot - how it handles and turns fast enough to make it dangerous. Unless you Take your time getting a hold on it in tight cornering.

Congratulations on you bike!

My "hybrid commuter"

http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2691/4253083080_c2c718772a_b.jpg

2002 Giant Yukon

I bought this bike new in '02 and road it for recreation and for commuting to college. I decided to pull it out and give it a full on commuter conversion this winter so I can use it this spring/summer/fall to ride to work and ride for fitness. I replaced the knobbies with some 1.95" Kenda slicks, added some Avenir rear panniers, rear rack, and clip on fenders. I also added a nashbar front rack and frame bag. I'm a sucker for storage. I want this to replace my car for around town activities. I can't wait to use it.

My first attempt at doing something like this...utter failure. Full XT with 29er wheel set. Problem is I stripped a crank arm the first time I tried putting a pedal on it.
I cut off the threads to the pedal, cut the head off a bolt, welded the threads from the bolt to the pedal, and then re-tapped the crank arm. Apparently I didn't weld
the bolt directly center in the center and now I've ruined not only a crank arm but a set of pedals. It's very rideable but that in combination with the BB being too long
makes for an awful ride. I'm about to sell this and build up a gunnar crosshairs frame I stumbled upon.

A couple years ago, I went paddling on the Chippewa river the first week of April. I dumped it and got pulled under a log. Luckily I popped up on the other side. The water was way cold and way fast from all the snow run off into the river. From then on, I chose to not go paddling until June. (an exception this year, I paddled in May, but I was in the Outer Banks :)

If the water isn't warm enough to swim in then forget it. Of course down here that's about 7 or 8 months out of the year. :D I'll paddle around the local rez here during the winter if I get the itch but only if the sun is out and the wind isn't blowing. :o Got to watch out for the gators though. Some of them are bigger than my kayak, and when you're right down there with them around the surface it gets a little creepy.

Here's my modified Giant Cypress that I tour on. (Picture shot in Louisiana during a tour of the Deep South) She's a work-horse, comfortable, and reliable. I just can't bring myself to replace her.
I do keep upgrading components and she gets sweeter and sweeter all the time.

It's actually attached with 2 zip ties. Not the best attachment, but has lasted through about 2500 miles of touring.

Retaped the bars with some orange tape. Also added a bell to the right drop.

The orange tape goes well with the blue bike:

Thanks for the compliments.

One downside I hadn't thought about, but I keep getting questions about the Denver Broncos. Apparently, they're like a local sports team or something with the colors blue & orange :innocent:

To keep this thread on topic of hybrid photos, I decided to take pictures of my girlfriend's bike since she won't join BF herself.

Its a 2008 Specialized Globe City 7, and I love the bike. Its perfect for her:

I recently upgraded my bike (earlier pictures are in the thread somewhere!). Put campy 9 speed levers on, a shiftmate to index my 8 speed shimano cassette and change my mtb disc brakes to avid bb5 road disc brakes.

All I can say is wow. It was worth it. Brakes are much better than mtb ones with v-brake drop levers, the shifters are way better than bar end shifters, and the shiftmate indexes perfectly.

'09 Kona Dew, with a few upgrades (bars, stem, pedals). Tough and swift enough for gnarly urban environments. Considering another set of wheels for those leisurely rides along the coast. Fun bike for a reasonable price.

No, I didn't spin it hard enough, but I knew I could never get the cat to stand there again. Er, I mean, the illusion of spokes is a prismatic effect of the camera lens. Yeah, that's it, an optical illusion. No spokes!

I was trying to get a picture that showed how filthy my bike was, which I sort of did, but I liked this one with the cat and spinning wheel better, so I posted it instead. :)

Here's my 1994ish Nishiki Oro. Mostly stock parts, lots of accessories to make it a very capable city bike: Gigantor Wald basket with straps, net and cup/beer/ciderholder, rear rack, front and rear lights, fenders with water bottle mudflaps, stickers like crazy, Arc bar, baggie under the seat (for keeping the rain off the seat when parked) and a hitch for the Doggieride. I found two bags of bark mulch and one of gravel to be too much, but a small tool bag, steel toe gumboots, PVC raingear and lunch totally doable in the basket.

Thank you. I think you've just shown me what I need to do with the cockpit of my mountain bike. I probably need a stem with more rise, but the bars, and the stem length, seem perfect.

Which bars are those, BTW?

YES! I love the look of the Sirrus. Combines the sleekness of a road bike with the much more comfortable position and handling of a mountain bike. At least I feel more comfortable with the handling on my sirrus than on the allez I once owned. The allez felt as if it was gonna fall out from under me when pushed hard (yet its a "race" bike???) and the sirrus just sticks to the pavement and goes. Maybe my clyde-ness has something to do with it though ;) My sirrus is the most comfortable bike I have owned yet. I can ride 15 miles and still be comfy and want to go farther, though working second shift doesnt allow for many longer rides, till the weekend. Weekends are generally canal path rides though, with my mountain bike.
