Hybrid Bicycles - Post pictures of your Hybrid

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.
Perfect. comfort is what I'm all about at this stage! ;)

here is my new Katai, but 2009 model (better components than 2010). everything stock except the stem was flipped for no rise. 2 new tires are Schwalbe Marathon Cross 700cc x 38, a new seat and different pedals.

I'm curious, is the geometry on the Crossroads the same as the geometry on the Crosstrail?

Yep, in 2006 they had two versions of the Crossroads, a comfort bike and the XC like the one pictured. In 2007 it became the Crosstrail.

But they still make the Crossroads in the comfort style.

Maiden Voyage. She rides real nice, much better than before the frame replacement. Better than ever! Better than new! :)http://i478.photobucket.com/albums/rr147/Rod_Smith/bike/DSC02652.jpg
The frame is new and the chain and rear brake shoes/pads also. Still running the stock fork, headset, handlebar, stem, shifters, brakes, front dr. cranks and BB. Everything else has been replaced. Nothing was replaced because it wasn't good enough for me. I ride stuff 'til it's done. Fixing stuff that ain't broke isn't my style.

Nice bike, is the seat tube water bottle cage a standard equipment?
mdohertyjr
05-06-10, 04:57 PM
The cage didn't come with the bike, but it did have the screws as standard install. I say that because my wife has the same 7.2 but different color, and she only has one cage for the bike, I think it is because of the size of the bike that I have two.

That may be why mine doesn't have one,my FX is size 17.5.Thanks.

A 7.7fx. right Mariah? I think there's a thread around that specific model.
Where do you ride, what kind of riding?

One of the things giving me pause re: new fx models is the sizes. Mine is a 19, and that is just at the old, standard advice's limit (i.e. there less than an inch clearance to the groin). BUT the geometry works quite well as I have not developed any back trouble of anything relating to maybe not fitting properly (saddles are a whole 'nother issue). So I seem to be in a hole bwteen 20 and 17.5.
Then again, I could also keep my frame/wheels and get a whole new drive train, shifters, brakes and feel like a new bike with a classic USA made steel frame!

Yes, its a 7.7 FX.
I'm a complete newbie.
Went for my first few rides in one of the local battlefields. Good roads, little traffic and moderate hills.
Need to raise the bars, the current configuration puts too much stress on my hand (recent surgery).
Otherwise, it rocks totally.

I don't think that's possible with the FX, unless you replace the stem,i replaced mine with a Ritchey adjustable model bcz the bar was too low for me however, that's how the FX was designed.

Yes, it will need a new stem, and possibly new cables.
Hopefully I will be able to go back to the original configuration later.
Finally put the finishing touches on my heavily modified Trek 7.5FX. Additional details at this link (http://www.bikeforums.net/showthread.php?643853-My-awesome-but-absurd-lt-20lb-hybrid-flat-bar-road-bike) Cheers, Matt.

Curious about the light I see in the pix... I don't have much need for serious output, so went for the low end.. got a 20 buck PlanetBike 3 LED Beamer and was amazed that it was actually better than I thought it would be. Perfect for the few times a month I may do a night ride. If I had occasion to up the pace at night, I'd probably go for their 1 or 2W light. Their website has a really good set of pix showing output of each of their lights.

Will be looking for a better sadle soon (brooks?). ANd maybe add drop bars but not sure if that makes sense on a hybrid bike.

You stole my drop conversion ;) Nice job man.
I used the Easton EA70 stem and Ergo Bars though. I love the flat bar of the bars for leaning on during path riding.

That used to be a flat bar bike? Nicely done! Are you using the Tektro brake levers with your linears? Don't they work great? I'm converting an old Giant Rainier MTB to drops and will be using them with my discs.

Brooks saddle, pretty old but in good condition and a lot more comfortable then my old gel based saddle. Still not as comfortable as my recumbent but that's ok, i don't use my hybrid bike for long rides anymore.
