Hybrid Bicycles - Post pictures of your Hybrid

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

But once I stepped inside I was sweating like a pig for a while.
I hate that! Always happens to me on my commute into work. as soon as i get there, I lock my bike, then head into the walk-in cooler. Feels great!

I've cleaned it up but haven't attempted yet to adjust the bottom bracket that got a little loose on the long ride I did a couple of weeks ago. The longhorn barends are on the other (silver) Marin.

I thought I'd post pictures of my hybrid from the day I bought it until today. You can see how it has transformed into my bike, rather than a bike that you can get off the shelf.
At Sports Authority the day I bought it:

How I stored it in my room until I realized how impractical that was.

Addition of reflective sidewall tires and discarded Specialized MTB saddle:
http://i736.photobucket.com/albums/xx1/igesundheit/IMG_0533.jpg
Addition of Forte oversized barends:
http://i736.photobucket.com/albums/xx1/igesundheit/IMG_0828.jpg
Added WTB Rocket V saddle:
http://i736.photobucket.com/albums/xx1/igesundheit/IMG_0865.jpg
Returned the WTB Rocker V saddle, got the barends at a good angle, and taped them with Bontrager gel cork tape:
http://i736.photobucket.com/albums/xx1/igesundheit/IMG_0927.jpg
Added Serfas Seca 28mm tires and old toe clipped pedals, and flipped the stem:
http://i736.photobucket.com/albums/xx1/igesundheit/IMG_1033.jpg
And finally, how it stands now, with reflective tape on the frame and rims, and a rack+panniers:
http://i736.photobucket.com/albums/xx1/igesundheit/photo-39.jpg
That's pretty cool to see it evolving.
I have a Rocket V saddle. It's comfy but damn narrow. It works good for MTB use but I wouldn't want to put a lot of miles on it.

...I'm working with a black, white and blue palette. Latest additions, black and white saddle with white and silver rails, white non-quick release seatpost collar, black tires with white and blue logos... I am thinking about replacing with these (http://www.jensonusa.com/store/product/PE260A02-Crank+Brothers+Candy+1+Ltd+Edition+Pedal.aspx) black and white ones. :)
I think once you get those pedals (good choice by the way) we need the three (??) of your bikes featured together. Complete with beer front logos etc. ;)

You've come along way since the initial tyre mismatch banter, to having a great bike.
Changing the set up to make it individual is fun and this is the same reason why I love my two main bikes so much.
I whinged often about the bits and pieces breaking on the Cannondale over time, but after replacing the "junk" with "nice bits", now it's my bike, exactly how I want it. My Orbea though is different, because fortunately I was able to build it from scratch so it too is exactly how I want it.

It was decided to "hybridize" the rarely used MTB standing in my garage... To be a second hybrid for my wife, but it turned out to be the first hybrid and the first real bike for my 7 year old daughter.
BTW - it is lighter by 5.5 lbs than her Trek MT220 with 24" wheels (I'm wondering what kind of iron they use to build the bikes for kids)

Best I don't show my daughter this bike. She is very unhappy she hasn't got an MTB / Hybrid.
I know, mean father but I tried to persuade her last year to go that way (actually BMX) BUT she chose the 24" city bike option.

Thank you,
I just going to change couple of things - first the bar ends will go and may be I will try a low-riser (may be).. But bar ends she will not use for a year or so - the reach will be a little too long.
The other thing - the saddle. Obviously it is not a kids saddle - Selle Royal came from my Bad Boy.
But which one? - it is not like she complains but I'm sure because she does not know any better.
Since many of us are fathers I would use some advice on the saddle for 7-10 y.o.

Pivotless suspension. See Moots YBB (http://moots.com/our-bike/mtb-26/ybb-26/overview/).

you saying it is using the metal's flexibility for suspension?

you saying it is using the metal's flexibility for suspension?
Many years ago I saw the same concept on KHS mountain bike - it called Softtail - the frame was steel and at the same point there was a "suspended" link...
I'm not sure how much sense does it make but looks cool...
I'm curious how this mustache handlebars feel?
Looks like Specialized decided to overwhelm the user with unusual decisions...

The suspension is controlled at the bumper. Perhaps better described in this case as dampening, although I don't know the technical definitions. I wouldn't say the metal's flexibility is used for suspension, more that it allows the dampening (suspension) to be effective. Maybe splitting hairs.
It's a road bike, it doesn't move much, just an elastomer bumper to smooth the ride a little. Maybe closer to Zerts than YBB. The Moots actually has over an inch of travel. I may have wrong to suggest this bike had the same sort of "pivotless suspension" as the YBB, although both Moots and Specialized use that phrase to describe their designs.
Hamongle, your Roulux is a great looking bike and it looks like a great riding bike too. Congrats! Do you have any idea about the amount of travel the bumpers actually provide?

yeah, it doesnt make sense to me because metal gets fatique over time... anyway, your Roulux 1 is one nice looking bike.

Metal gets fatigue ... if it is strained over it's limit.
As long as you keep it within it's limits ... depending on the exact alloy ... it's going to be fine and will make for an excellent suspension.
The rubber bit makes sure the metal can't move further than it's supposed to go.
Personally I can see a huge future for this sort of suspension.
When done right it can really help and it doesn't add any weight to the bike.

Here are my two. I had been away from cycling for about 18 years. And I moved to an area that is very hilly. So I decided to sell my Bianci Brava road bike and my old Jazz mountain bike and get a hybrid. I bought the Specialized Crosstrail and started to hit the local rails2trails. It is a great bike. A little heavy, but can go just about anywhere. I then decided that I wanted to try hitting the roads again. Well the Crosstrail is just not that kind of bike. And I was still concerned about being able to do the hills where I live (I'm 50). So I purchased the DiamondBack Insight 2. It also met my needs at the time. Light weight for what it is. After that, I just decided to get a full blown road bike and purchased a GT Series2 from the local Performance store. Now I'm thinking about getting a dedicated Mountain for getting back into real off road riding. But here are my two hybrids.

Here's my 1991 Bianchi Advantage. I replaced the stock riser bars recently with some Nitto Dove bars that I flipped for a lower position. I hated the risers because my hands went numb and the upright position hurt my ass. Riding it before the change was torture after 30 minutes or so. Now I've ridden it for 2+hours and am loving it. :)

Thanks! I think it's the original stem but I'm not certain. I'm a huge fan of hybrids and this is my only bike right now. I love he idea of upgrading but I'm feeling really nostalgic for my old Trek 730 and I want to ride that one a bit and see if it's not the one I really want to modify. From memory, I preferred the steel frame to the current aluminum one.

Borrowing my friend's CX bike with road tires for the weekend. Depending on how I like his CX bike, once I get the funds, I may have to buy a CX bike and join the CX forum. I will still be pretty active here, though. It is a Kona Jake the Snake (I don't know what year) frameset built up with an unknown shimano triple crankset (I didn't look at it), a Deore rd, I don't know what fd, a wheelset, Sora brifters (8sp). A CX bike is a hybrid in its own sense of the term.

Really. This isn't the 'post pics of your skyline' thread. Right the bike, and take a pic of the bike proper. Etiquette says the drivetrain should be visible (so pics should be taken from the right of bike when facing forward). I'm sure some will insist on a certain pedal position as well, but they are dismissed.
We'd love to see a pic of your bike, but this is not it.
I wouldn't post an aerial view of my gf in the playmate thread. Why would you do the same in this thread? ;)
