It's a vintage Miele road bike so I decided to ask in here. I saw one of these Miele road bike on Craigslist and selling it for $140. Seller claimed tires and tubes are new and lubed recently. I have never own a road bike before so I want to ask you all experts about this.

Reason why I want this bike is because I am not planning to spend big but still be able to try and have the feeling of it.

$140, hot deal?

Thanks,

WH

Maybe, maybe not. Miele produced a full range of models from entry level, right on up to professional models. Then there is the question of condition. I suggest you post a good, drive side picture, details of the tubing decal, if any, and the brand and model of all the major components (i.e. derailleurs, crankset, brakes, rims).

I haven't get a chance to see the actual bike yet as the seller will not be available till tomorrow evening. Here are the pics...

Hello. it doesn't look too bad. if it was my size and shipping was not a factor I might buy it. it looks like early but indexing shimano 105. (maybe 600?)

OH wait! why are there pics of two different bikes? the first one looks like a 61+ frame and has that huge lock. and judging from the rust on the fork not well cared for. the second looks like a 57/58 and no lock? what gives? I was judging my assement on the second set of pics. I would really have to look over the first one it might have issues.

I didn't have those pics when I first made this post. Asked the seller for pics later and so I posted the "correct" bike pics here. Sorry for the confusion! Yes, the 2nd set of pics are the right set to look at.

Thanks,

WH

Circa 1988 Miel Azsora. Appears to be OEM, upper entry level, Shimano Exage Sport components, 6 speed, SIS. Should be Ishiwata 022 main triangle. General condition appears good. Original price $400-$425 US. Aero bars are a nice bonus. Fair deal in my region but probably a good deal for Toronto.

How's the ride quality with a 6 speed compared to a 10 speed in this kind of situation (a vintage road bike) ??

I've owned a few bikes with Exage sport components. Never had a problem with them. If it fits, it should be a nice ride. In SF it would be in the $200 range.

By 6 speed, I'm refering to 6 cogs on the rear hub, for 12 gears in total.

Buy it for $140, sell the aero's for $30, track bars for $15 or swap. Drop the seat tube back to sanity height, clean, polish, lube, adjuste, re-wrap and ride it, or sell it for $175, take $150. That would work here.

hey ahson, im also in toronto.

thats a pretty good find for a miele, since in toronto i have seen them going for as much as $250 with that same level of random shimano/suntour componentry. if have more questions, pls post.

also post if u managed to snag the bike!

they ride quite well, and i think once the bike is tuned correctly, you would be mildly impressed.

Hi Trueno92, glad to know someone's also from Toronto. :thumb:

I will meet up with him later today to have a look at the bike. If it fits and everything's good, I will bring her home tonight. I am exicted about it. :D

Will post if I really managed to snag the bike.

my bianchi cost exactly double what you will pay for, and other than the eye-candy appeal, they should ride similar.

good to know there are still some nice miele deals to be had in toronto.

again, this bike is larger, so for a proper fit, you would want to be 5'9" or taller... on a general estimate.

I am 6'3 so I am actually worrying if the frame might be small. :D Hope it fits nice when I see it later today.

I am back, and guess what I didn't get the bike. Here's the story...I have no clue what was the seller thinking, but the next day when I called back and asked for his address to meet up for the bike, he said the bike is not for sale anymore. I felt totally strange, so I asked my friend and pretended another potential buyer to call him and the seller told him "yes, it's for sale and we can meet up next day". The next day, same thing happened and he told my friend the bike's not selling anymore. Oh well......
