Mountain Biking - The official "anal lube" SuperThread.

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.
This is not new...it is anal...it is over the top...it is unnecessary.
I have read numerous times that the "proper way" (OMG like it's rocket science OMGOMG) to clean and lube a chain is to degrease/clean it, wipe dry, let dry completely.
Lube the night before your next ride...let lube sit...wipe off excess immediately prior to the ride. I also had been told that the Finish Line drip lube in the squirt bottle should be applied anally...one drop per roller. Now by applying anally...I don't mean ...well anyways.
All this is, as I said...pretty-much waaaay more than I usually do. I usually clean with Simple Green and a chain machine...let dry...spin the crankset and squirt rollers for a few rotations.
Aaaight so this is a result of "anal lubing".
We'll see how it works. I may end up using the "anal lube" technique from now on out if my stuff stays slickery longer.:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D

It's funny...I know it comes out in a "thiquid" form...but I wonder how much of that actually made it down into the roller since so much of it us just chillin' on the outside...crackin'n'breakin'.

Is this the official "anal lube" thread?
Is this the official "anal lube" thread?
Ahhhhhhhhhhhh...crap. It is. I forgot to label it as such...and I...like Superman...have gotten into the Kryptochamber in the Ice Palace and stripped myself of all super powers.
Could a Super-mod please change the title to:
The official "anal lube" thread.
Please.

As long as you put the lube in the right place, I'll do it for you.

I use the dry lube, anally one drop per roller. Boe shield.

I try not to lube anally, I just slap it on and wipe off the excess. Haven't had any problems yet!!!:thumb:

Same here, it's not so much that it gets where it has to go, more that it DOESN'T get where it shouldn't. I don't bother cleaning the chain, it generally doesn't need cleaning because there isn't any sticky stuff on the outside.

I just put the little red straw into the WD-40 can and spray generously. I then use a dirty, oily rag to dry the floor under the bike.

wd-40 is not a tproper chain lube!!
I use the finishline XC wet lube. I clean the chain with a degreaser and a chain machine.
I apply it to all the rollers for a few rotations liberally, then I cycle through all the gears a few times for a few rotations in each, then I get a rag and wip of the excess.
Seems to work fine for me.

WD also does wonders for squeaky disc brakes! I spray that stuff everywhere.

Sorry if I insulted anyone. I spent a little over $200 US for my rig and to be quite honest I don't care about it enough to perform the proper maintenance. I just wanna ride the heck out of it until I can justify buying a brand new wonderful bike.
As I said...normally, I just squirt the drip-stuff as I back pedal and call it good.
