Is there anything in particular that I need to know about putting a carbon seat post into a chromoly frame? Right now I have an aluminum seatpost that's too short. To use it I put a little grease on it and clamp down the quick release bolt. Is there a different procedure with a carbon post?

Special grease for carbon.

Most manufacturers of carbon fiber seatposts recommend the use of "carbon assembly paste" or "carbon install compound" not grease.

Whatever you use, I'd keep an eye on it: the assembly paste applied to the carbon fiber FSA seatpost that came with my Cervelo RS dried up an left behind a layer of grit. The next time I had to move the seatpost, the remaining grit scratched the heck out of the post! It didn't damage any of the carbon fibers, but the clear coat sure looks like Hell...
