If you do 21, you can do 40. Just do the 21 a few times. Then do the 40. It will seem tough the first time but after a few times, it will seem much easier. Then you will be ready for 60!:thumb:
Maybe put some slick tires on your mtb, that will get you on the ROAD.:D

Congrats! One milestone down and more to go! Last AugustI broke the 20 mile mark and can now do it effortlessly. A few weeks ago I hit 32miles. I'm looking to do a metric next month. It does get easier and easier. Like Beanz said, put some slicks on the MTB and hit the road!

Street tires on a mountain bike make for a very nice ride. The MTB gearing means you can explore anywhere, and the smoother tires mean you can go farther. If the bike is full suspension, so much the better for comfort. A few weeks ago I put Specialized Hemisphere tires on my Turner and rode it to Palos Verdes and back, roughly 40-mile round trip, and it was great.
So, yes... simply ride what you have and enjoy. :)

Heck, I've done 42 miles on my mtb with knobbies. That baby was humming and all the other riders on the trail knew when you were coming!:D

20+ miles is an accomplishment, but if you keep it up, you won't even think about it. In fact, you might stop worrying about distances and just go on rides with the confidence that no matter what the distance, you can handle it on whatever bike you ride.

yeah it was done with NO INTENT FOR MILAGE other than simply riding... (I just rode and had to go out and odometer it with car since CatEye isnt hooked up yet)
I just bought the Premis just for this and havent really got to ride her cause I dont like the wheel sets (corroded nipples and spokes) I know my MTBs are clyde proof...
she is fast and with that extra speed I know there is easily 20-40% further range than now...
cant believe I sweat all night and here it is 15+ hours after my ride and my metabolism is still cranking...
heck the scales actually say 270lbs this AM... so that is un-officially 30lbs since I started 3 or so weeks ago...
THANKS TO ALL FOR YOUR KIND WORDS OF ENCOURAGEMENT... :)

30 lbs in three weeks? I go on rides and gain weight sometimes. I should probably stop eating cupcakes and hotdogs during the rides.

yeah post operative junk food diet.
cut out *almost* all soda.
no candy bars.
eating steamed rice...
and riding bike all day every day.
it was poofy sugary watery flab. to go from doing nothing to doing something is all it takes for me...
me and being sedentary does't work really well...
*** PS water can alter +/-10lbs per day so in theory you could swing 20lbs in a day...
