does anyone here know what kind of aero bar/ handlebar LA has on his TT bike?

I think he was using different bikes in both time trials. At least the team appeared to be anyway. In the individual it looked like the Cinelli "angel" bars, a similar model is made by ITM. In the team effort it looked like many were using a bull horn style bar with clip on aero bars instead of the "angels".
The bullhorns give more hand positions and more adjustability I think where the angels are dedicated TT bars with really only 2 positions, full aero and with the hands on the 2 small curved extension wings. While one could grab the horizontal tie bars they are deep ovalized tubes and don't give the same grip as a standard shaped bar.

sweet... those aero bars looks sooo awesome. especially when he is off his seat and on an attack.

note: you can't buy the "lance" version stock next season. that requires an "aftermarket extension" which sounds strangely like a custom carbon job that steve hed and the folks at trek made. they're sweet bars though. pretty much everything they make just for lance is frikkin awesome.

Some riders opt to use STI or Ergopower shifters/levers on thier TT setups for their own reasons, while many still use bar end shifters and aerobar levers.

Looks like brakes on the bullhorn ends and bar end shifters on the aero extensions. Pretty much the normal TT setup.
My own bike does double duty so I use the STI shifter/brakes on the bullhorns and nothing on the aero clip ons. I find I typically need to shift what I am not in full aero position and the fingertip control works for me.

I have a good feeling a lot of the stuff lance uses is designed by steve Hed, and then given another brand name. Steve hed flew to Lances on the chronicles for an episode to help him with his hill climbing time trial bike.

Interesting. I'm not a racer but was looking a more aero solution to ride in continual 10-15mph winds. My lbs said "don't use those on the streets 'cuz you can't brake". So how do these riders brake so quickly then?

i think their brakes are on the bullhorn bar. so i guess they will have to change position really quick to stop. that's probably the most logical location to put the brakes. i thought about putting the brake on the aero bar.. but don't wanna end up flipping over the bike.. hehe.

I have Syntace bullhorn drop bars and Syntace Aero bars. I use STI's on that setup and it works just fine. I do a lot of triathlons and find no problems reaching over to quickly shift when I'm in the aero position.
