Supposedly you can use cantilever levers with V-Brakes. They look much simpler than a Travel Agent.

This bit here is basically enough to make me shy away. Getting both more power and more travel at the same time would require a fundamental rewrite of the laws of mechanics.

Apart from that it does very much the same as the travel agent, it changes a ratio. The cable from the Canti lever attaches closer to the pivot point, then the cable to the V-brake attaches farther out from the pivot point. Gives you a longer but weaker pull.

Unless you're religiously opposed to bending brake cables I'd stick with the travel agent instead. It lets you get rid of the noodle and still allows you to run a single cable all the way. Travel agents are OK, a little prone to collecting crud, and requiring a tad of fiddling during set-up, but they do perform as promised.
