I recently got a bike from a garage sale for a dollar, but I haven't been able to figure out what year or model it might be. It says "Pilot" on a sticker on the front and has a 5 pointed star beneath it. The brakes said something like "Synchron" but the sticker came off with cleaning. The front derailleur says "Thunder bird", the rear one "Eagle". It has 10 speeds, has fenders, is brown. Any ides about what it might be worth or the model? I'll post pictures if I can.

yup, we need pics. The derailers are early Shimano. Need pics to say more.

Thunderbirds and Eagles without pics = $25 max...without pics.
Based on description, I would place it in the donor bike category. I value such bikes based on any salvagable components: seat, pedals, crank (if it is alloy), etc. If a bike is really low end, the list of salvagable stuff is short. As the parts get better (alloy rims, etc), the value increases.

Ok, I'll try borrow a camera and post some pictures.
