Classic & Vintage - Detailing a Lugged Frame
Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Fuji Grand Touring SE lugged frame just back from the powder coater in nice yellow.
I would like to detail paint the joints of the lugs. Original was black with gold detail. I am thinking silver for the yellow frame. Cabling in red. I could detail the joints in red, but it might be kinda busy. Any ideas or photos of your bikes?

Paint pens come in limited colors. There was a thread (http://www.bikeforums.net/showthread.php?t=534847&page=2) on using them awhile back. The pen suggested was Uchida DecoColor, extra fine point. The colors are fewer for the extra fine than the fine or medium, so far as I can tell.
I have a pearl white frame that I'd really like to do in a sort of burnt orange, but that's not available. I'm thinking silver or gold, but I'm leery that this won't be enough contrast to show up at all.

Personally, I like red detailing on yellow frames.

Whoa, someone had a lot of time on their hands. Cool.
Red on yellow looks pretty sweet... heck, red on anything!

Except on red. My local guitar shop dude tried to sell me some bridge pins which were white with a white dot. I think he's into all that Zen stuff.

Well, its a fine line between sheer genius and absolute stupidity! I ask people first cuz I have some crazy color idea at times that in the end look, er, garish. I am going to do red!

I think the standard answer would be purple - the color opposite the main color on a color wheel. I had a yelow bike with a medium purple pin stripe. It looked great.
The extra fine tip pens work great. I did my Holdsworth, white on orange. If you're going to clear coat, let it dry for a few days I put my frame in the sun, and light clear coats first, or it will run.....the voice of experience.

I understand your problem. I would also have questioned a red lug lining. I think Scooper's works (and looks fantastic) because of the chrome lugs. Purple is an interesting suggestion but I think white might work.

Another vote for purple or red. Dark, dark blue might work as well.

i'd do a darker shade of yellow.
I'm not into the stark contrasts as much as a little shadowing.
Depends on if you like gaudy or low-key.

Think I'd just leave it the one color, but only because I'd be afraid of making a total hames of it. Hate to turn the cat's pajamas into a dog's dinner.
