Mountain Biking - Kooka? What happened to them

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.
What happened to Kooka? i used to love their cranks and componets back in the 90s. Did they got belly up or did they get bought up and turned into junk?

Belly up around the same time many other CNC houses died. Partially from a lot of competition, partially from some QC issues. I think the name may have been bought out after. Not sure though.

They got bought out first. I was dealing with Kooka in the late 90s, early 2000s and they were owned by some company in Utah who had bought them. I left the bike biz for I.T. in 2001. When I came back in 2007, they were gone.

I'm thinking that Kooka had some cranks available in Rasta anodized.

I remember another one around the same time, Caramba (I have one of their ball caps):
