Hybrid Bicycles - Where Did Your Hybrid Take You Today?

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

That's cool, thanks for the information!
Not the first time someone here has been able to identify the artist responsible for the street art in one of my snapshots. Does he live in Greenbelt? I spotted the van and Volvo in Hyattsville.

Hyattsville, I think. He had it parked at the Greenbelt Roosevelt Center for a couple of years waiting on an obscure part. I'm glad to see he has it running again.

This isn't from a bike ride, but it is along the way of the bike path that I ride every day. Elitch Gardens amusement park recently opened for the summer, and as I have a season pass, I went there. The observation tower there hasn't been open in years, but the day I went, it was open. I took this picture of Downtown Denver from it.

Sorry no pictures (bummer)
Today I dropped by friend's bike shop and he was working on what I believe is the most beautiful / incredible bikes (works of art) I've ever seen.
A Lynskey PRO29 SL Competition Hardtail. I can't imagine how much this thing was worth, but lets say it had everything going for it, in the department of components. The hottest thing about this bike was that it was filthy dirty, with a bent hanger.

MY hybrid took me to the Library of Congress where I had a bad time. I think I need to write a letter to the head librarian up there. After my problem was resolved unsatisfactorily, I left without my cellphone. I rode to the other side of town before I realized it was gone. Someone found it and I got it back but it took a lot of time finding the lost and found where my phone had been taken. It was in a different building from the one where I was not allowed to deliver a box for the sole reason that I was not using a motor vehicle to transport the box. There are three Library of Congress (LOC) buildings on Capitol Hill.
A picture I took of the LOC Madison Building after it had started to go all wrong, but before I found out how wrong it would get. To get a sense of scale, those are people in the distance.

18mi roundtrip ride on a part of the Highline canal that I've never done before. About 8mi of off-roading. This is my first time doing off-roading on my hybrid. It makes me really want a suspension.
Highline canal in Denver.

Thank you!! It's not actually a fisheye shot, but I took multiple shots with my iPhone, and when I got home, I used photoshop to merge the images together into one large cylindrical panoramic shot. I will upload the full panorama to dropbox and link it here, so that it won't be scaled down.

I thought it was stitched together from multiple images. I was using fisheye more as a descriptive word rather than a technical term. I take a lot of pictures, but remain pretty ignorant about photography. I need to work on that. I had a camera that had a feature that made it easy to stitch pictures together but I only used that feature once and I don't have that camera anymore. I don't think I have the capability to do that anymore.

I thought you had made the edges irregular for effect but in the higher res version it looks like an artifact of the process? In either case, it adds to the picture in my opinion.

It isn't easy to stitch photos together ... I remember that from back in the days when I used to do it with actual photos and sticky tape :)
Even with photoshop I still find it hard to get the differences in perspective to allign nice enough not to be a problem.

Thanks, i just use the 700x32 hard case tires that came with my Trek. The trails up here are very smooth so no reason to go wider. Ive got around 1200 miles on them so far, around half on trails and they are holding up great.

A-Dogg, that's cool. When I was in ninth grade, 1969-70, almost nobody was riding bikes. There was a surge of interest in bicycling a few years later (the early seventies "bike boom"). I bought my first nice bike when I was in twelfth grade.

I think my iPhone needs to be replaced (it's under warranty). Does anyone see a sort of color vignetting effect? Like it is pinkish in the middle, and green around the edges.
Here's a picture that demonstrates the color vignetting effect. I copied a section from the center of an image, and moved it to the edge of the image. You can clearly see the issue.

The lock button doesn't work, and my previous iPhones (my iPhone 3GS has been replaced twice) didn't have the vignetting issue. After finals are over, I will be taking it in to the Apple store for a replacement.

I already have my essay outlined for tomorrow's english final. We are allowed to bring in notecards for the final, so I have the essay outlined on notecards. It's an essay on A Separate Peace, and we are also allowed to bring the books into the final, to quote the material.
The hebrew final is just reading comprehension, fill in the blank, and prefixes/suffixes that change the ownership of certain words.. It's kind of confusing, but I have all most of the material down pat.
I'll study for math, history, and biology over the weekend.

Today, I fought bravely to defend the honor of hybrids ... I entered my hybrid in a time trial race :)
Obviously I did not intend to win but it was my first race ever and I had a great time.
It was very windy with a headwind on most of the long stretches and the course was tricky with a lot of 90 degree turns over not too great roads between fields.
I averaged just over 35km/h (just under 22mph) over 18 kilometers (11,2 miles) and was pretty happy with that result considering the use of a hybrid bike, the hot weather (30 degrees centigrade) and the wind.
I don't have any pictures yet since they aren't available online yet but will post them as soon as I get 'em.

Just got back from Ride the Drive and had an absolute blast. I think going there, doing 4 loops, and coming back added up to over 50 miles, my longest ride so far. I got to test ride a Trek Madone 5.2 (Want!) and a Trek FX+, both nice bikes, plus a few other interesting things, like a bike with 36" wheels. Also it was my first ride on my GT after adding a new fancy wheelset, it is starting to turn into a very nice bike.

First ride today on my new Trek 7.5 FX (I have a Devinci road bike, though didn't get out much last year) Bought it to commute, gave it a nice 40k test ride through St. Catharines, along the Welland canal trail up the Niagara escarpment next to the canal and locks then around and down the escarpment. Great ride, like the bike, easier on rough pavement or multi-use trail then my road bike (32 tires vs 23's). Never used SPD pedals before - Look cleats on road bike - I like them especially w double sided pedals at intersections.
