Hybrid Bicycles - Where Did Your Hybrid Take You Today?

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.
Nice ride today Keihoku via Kibune. Usually I ride this on my road bike but today I decided to use my Hybrid. My mate got a flat which was a bummer.

Our rainy season is starting (just after Spring) and it had been raining for a few days so the roads in the mountains were still a bit dodgy from small land slides. We were a mess by the time we got home.
Las Vegas is quite lush on The Strip isn't it?
You should make the trip to Kyoto one day. The forest roads are beautiful for riding. Moss, moss and more moss.
Sometimes, often times, I miss really green area places. I go to the Oregon or northern California coast when I need a fix but that is usually on the motorcycle. Just for something different to look at: http://www.pashnit.com/forum/showthread.php?t=29250 but after the fix is made I love dry air and the long vistas of the desert for my day to day living.

Awesome trips you get to make! I really miss AZ. I would make day trips in my old honda civic (no AC) around AZ up to Sedona, Flagstaff, the Mogollon Rim and Apache Trail. I always wanted to get over to CA but never made it!

It took me the Rest Stop #2 for the Starlight Spectacular night ride, here in Colorado Springs, then took me home at 2:00 AM. after we cleaned up the stop, 1500 riders and it was VERY busy! Sorry no photo's, it was DARK! ;)

My adventures come at a price. I'd rather have a family but I don't so I make the very best of what I have. It was by very hard design that I live in Las Vegas and it had nothing to do with casinos or real-estate. This is outdoor central and in relative close proximity to the best this country has to offer. I love bikes but I love everything outdoors. I am a very lucky fellow and never take this for granted. I lived in your part of Arizona as well and loved it; Kingman. I would be just as happy in Arizona, western Colorado, Vegas or much of Utah.
Here's some more fun stuff. http://www.summitpost.org/image_list/igo/39275

No riding for me this weekend. Igo your making me jealous showing me that link but 'bugger' I cant see all the pic's properly. I've gone past my monthly download limit and to add to the pain my wireless keyboard wont work anymore, I,ll buy a new one tomorrow 'using windows on screen keyboard now' :notamused: But i'll get to see it all soon.
My only registered bike right now is a new unridden WR450 Yamaha, not the best for touring that i've been wanting to do for a long time. Right now racing again in the future doesn't look positive.
I like the KTM990 Adventure, BMW GS1200 and F800 but right now my back is deciding my future with motorcycles. Gee its taken me a half hour to type this so far and i'm done.

Didn't commute to work, but did bring my bike to work with me today with the intention of riding during lunch. Well it just so happens I forgot to bring a lunch, so I rode across town to "Taco Hell", ate lunch for $3, and then around the north side of town and back again - 6.5 miles total.

There's a reason it's cheap - look at the ingredients.
I prefer El Pollo Loco, where you can actually identify what it is you're eating.
Anyways - my Hybrid took me to work today...and El Pollo Loco for lunch.

11 mile lap over the East River today. http://astoriahd.blogspot.com/2012/06/astoria-over-east-river-via-triboro.html
Finally got my camera back, tried out the chest mount, and encountered a new audio problem....
I hope to have my rig all sorted out before my century ride Saturday.

Soooo happy to have the Wards Island (103rd Street) bridge back again!
PatrickGSR94
06-13-12, 09:34 PM
Wow that chest mount is a great vantage point for the camera, though it is a bit shaky.
What shifters are you using? Looks like the same style as my Deore LX's with the up and downshift levers, but mine have a little gear indicator below the handlebar that sometimes interferes with the bends in the handlebar and limits my range of placement of the shifters.

06-13-12, 10:50 PM
they are the Shimano EF-50 EZ-Fire that came with the Escape 2.
thanks for watching. Having the camera on my chest is nice, but i like being able to look left and right to shoot things I pass.
Having it on my helmet is more noticeable for drivers, who see it and drive more respectfully thinking they are on camera.
I will likely try mounting my original hero to my chest and hero 2 to my helmet to film with them at the same time, and experiment with editing them together.

He's back! Good vid, that bridge must have quite a curvature coz it seemed like hard work getting up to the middle.
I like the chest camera mount too with a view of the bars but it's very wobbly when you start pedaling at a higher rate if that could be sorted that would be the best view.
BridgeNotTunnel
06-14-12, 05:44 PM
Yeah JBC, the helmet mount is the smoothest video, and I have to stress that being able to point at things of interest as I roll by is a big plus for the helmet too.
Some of the videos shot today that I will share later or tomorrow will highlight this.
From a cycling standpoint, chest is best.
For cinematographic and "dolly like" shooting purposes, helmet is the best.
As stated on my blog, I will be experimenting with mounting my GoPro Hero on my chest, and my GoPro Hero 2 on my helmet and editing them together, for effect.
I am looking forward to some chest mount shots of midtown Manhattan traffic riding. The nuance of the maneuvering is lost in helmet view I think.

Took me to Wally mart today, had to return a couple of things, and also got some cheap stiff-soled sandals to use for cycling, until I get something else that will take cleats. All my other shoes are minimalist (thin, flexible soles) and not ideal for cycling.

Yes your aqueduct is a few years older than my pipe.
I don't think you can take a bad picture in Japan this pic speaks to me there's so much going on here to me and nothing central to the pic. I think you took it unplanned, spur of the moment capturing an every day moment of were you are.

You got that right. I was just leaning against my bike in Gion, and the Maiko San (apprentice Geiko / Geisha) walked out of the lane beside me. It isn't unusual for me to see them whilst I'm out and about. Infact, it's almost every day. Gion is the perfect place to step back in time and forget about modern life.
