It feels a lot safer than living in Australia or London but you still have to be careful. The notices in my neighbourhood are mostly to warn people about break and enters and bag snatching. Cars are often broken into for their sat navs or DVD screens and players.
My father in law lived in the main part of the city and was punched in the face and mugged walking home from the hospital. He was 84 years old at the time.

freeekin hell!!! Move to Kyoto. :D Not much happens here.

Went down to where they're constructing new docks. I'm amazed at how long the sea walls are...pile driving @ least 50 feet.

You can see one of the, I'm guessing, construction office trailers flatten from Issac.
http://i216.photobucket.com/albums/cc207/cpt888/DSCN0860.jpg
Just on the other side they're dredging a brand new area (we call slips) for docks.

Did another ride along the Torrens River through the city then went the opposite direction along the coast to Port Adelaide. I tried to get some pic's of a navy submarine where they build them but couldn't get close enough.

Johnread, how's the Arabia Mountain trail system? Is it fairly flat? My wife wants to go check out the PATH paths down there and around Panola and the South River, but just can't do much in the way of hills.

After healing bruised/seperated ribs and shoulder, I am now strong enough to ride again.

18+ miles Monday. Laps around the Wards Island loop, twice over the Triboro bridge. Feeling strong but slow.

I was super wiped from the ride, sad to see how out of shape I was.

I created montages with music for my 5 Boro Bike Tour footage.

Latest blog post has videos embedded....

If the weather permits, I will ride to Governors Island for the first time tomorrow.

Homechicken,

Sorry to take so long to reply. The Arabia Mountain Trail is beautiful but is quite hilly. Riding just about any section of the trail is definitely a workout, and a great way to burn some calories while enjoying some great natural scenery. I have not taken my wife on it yet because her knee surgery earlier in the year would make it difficult to handle the hills. When we go out together, we are more apt to ride on the Silver Comet Trail in the Smyrna/Powder Springs area.

You can check them both out here: http://pathfoundation.org

just shy of 30 miles today.

Triboro bridge, east river esplanade, central park loop, triboro bridge.

Still not used to the mileage after such a long forced break off the bike.

I'm not used to feeling wiped after 30 miles, it's amazing how much stamina you can lose in such a short time.

Today I rode, for the first time, the northern section of the Henry Hudson trail.
This leg runs from Matawan to Atlantic Highlands,NJ.
Around 20 miles round trip. This paved path has large areas that are treed, but while that helped in terms of reducing wind resistance (it was very breezy today), the ride was very bumpy because of tree roots lofting up the macadam.
I will not ride this again.
Best regards

Like you, I did the d&r canal this morning but further east. South Bound Brook to Approx Griggstown for about 20 miles round trip. Did Blackwells Mills to Carnegie Lake last week for about 28 miles.

ThecHenry Hudson is one of my favorites but I agree about the blacktop rooting up in spots. It can be tough with a rigid fork hybrid but I do a good job avoiding them without killing myself. I start at Keansburg HS and take it out to the bayshore trail and over the bridge to the Sandy Hook lighthouse for about 30-34 miles round trip. Love it. Great views and love being by the ocean. Can be windy, cold, and raw if you pick the wrong day though.

25 miles on blustry fall day, here in Colorado Springs with the wife! Decided to put the, "trekking bars" back on the Allegro 1 after the ride. I'm keeping the straight bars on the Coda Sport as I use that as my "utility/dirt path" bike, (has cyclo-cross tires). I thought the "long bar ends" would be enough hand movement but for road riding the "trekking, (butterfly) bars", are just 1.5 steps up in comfort.
