Hi there,

I'm looking for some help with an ambitious family biking tour I'm putting together. The USA leg will involve an 8-10 week trip to USA/Canada summer 2005. Two adult bikes with panniers towing two toddlers + baggage in two Burley D'Lite trailers. Mad? Probably certifiable.

Looking for some ideas/recommendations on top places to tour, ideally 5-10 days at a time, ~20/25 miles per day, so we can visit 4/5 spots around USA. We're probably restricted to road, dirt track, nothing more than 1:10 hills (it's physically impossible!), but wilderness no problem as we'll be fully equipped/loaded for camping etc. What top USA/Canada bike touring highlights would you recommend?

Also need bright ideas on how we can transport ourselves + bikes + trailers between places. Has anyone any experience of doing this without involving vehicle hire (expensive), airlines or UPS/Fed Ex. I was trying to figure whether I could pack the trailers and bikes into 4 bike boxes and use Amtrak checked baggage service. Has anyone any experience or other ideas?

All ideas welcomed.

Stuart
