Hope this question isn't too out of line in this forum, but here goes:
I'm building a road frame for myself, and it's getting to be time to round up the components I will use and have them handy during the build. I don't have any parts stash to dip into, and I don't know enough to buy intelligently from ebay and other used sources without risking compatibility issues that may come up. I'm thinking double crankset, 9 or 10 speed cassete, 105 or Ultegra quality. I've looked at most of my online sources and the only deal I found was AE Bike offering an Ultegra group minus STIs for around $350, but it was a triple, cranks a little long and 11-23 cassette - not what I want. Any ideas for component shopping would be appreciated. This frame is a little experimental, so I don't want to invest too heavily in top-end components. Thanks, Gary Hastings

I don't know if this link will help. I'm looking for groupsets too. It might be cheaper to buy a bike but I want to learn how to put the components on one.
I wonder if used parts is the way to go, price wise.
Good luck and let me know if you find any bargains.
