I bought one of the new soft Garmin heart rate straps after I left mine somewhere while on vacation. The transmitter is supposed to be backwards compatible with the Gen II Forerunner 305 but I can't get the two to talk to each other. Any thoughts?

if it is like the edge 305 there is a setting you have to fiddle with for it to connect. if you have tried that, sorry. i have no idea.

It should work just fine. You will need to pair it. I don't have a FR305 so I don't know the xact process for it. It will involve finding the accessories screen and telling it to re-pair with the HR strap.
