I am working on getting in shape for our local MS 150. I did 43 miles this morning with one of my buddies. Took 2hrs 28 minutes. Still gotta work on getting in better shape, but I can definitely tell the difference that 3 weeks on the bike has made. Not really sore, and just called another buddy and will be doing another 30 tomorrow morning. I am trying to lose weight and I have to keep biking.

43 miles in 2:28 is pretty darn good... What is that? Like 18mph average?

If I could get to that point in three weeks I'd be thrilled. I have been riding seriously for 5 years, and I'm lucky to average 17 over that distance...

The average was 17.XX, don't really remember. Just glad I completed it. If it would not have been for my buddy pulling probably 30 of the miles, the average probably would have been upper 16s. I am still young, not even 30 yet, I just had to find something that would get me active again, and commit to it. I ride every day at lunch, around 10-12 miles on a mountain bike with 1.25" tires, and we average around 15, and that includes a pretty good sized bridge that kills our average. So when I ride my road bike now, (that I picked up last weekend) it is much easier.

Since July 1st I have lost 20 lbs, and I hope to lose at least another 20 before the MS 150, which is Oct 3rd and 4th. The less I weigh, the better I feel, and I can definitely tell how much less weight I am padaling down the road.

The name comes from being a die hard Florida Gators fan and I drive a Nissan Titan.

Thanks, keep up your hard work and you will be able to do 43 miles before you know it!
