Road Cycling - this or that?

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.
So I'm gonna get a new bike soon - honest. You guys have been great back when I was doing my initial search for steel frames in my size. I'm probably gonna go for that Viner Competition from GVHBikes.com (i'd link it but you know how his website is - kinda screwy - uses frames i think [no pun intended])
Anyway, the price on the Viner is $1350 (with Ultegra triple and a cheap carbon fork). which is the reserve price on this bike: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=3686995120&ssPageName=STRK:MEWA:IT
it's slim pickins for a 6'4" shopper.
Is a '96 Merckx Century TSX worth that much with the wheels thrown in? Which would you get?

Love the Merckx, but for that kinda jing you can look custom. I also saw Pegoretti Palosantos on close out somewhere. I'll have to find it. Your size though. 60-61cm.
i was actually looking more at the 64cm (for the Viner) because my GT is a 61 with a 59cm TT and I had to put a 150mm stem on it.
are you sure you don't mean just a Pegoretti Palosanto _frame for $1500??
we're talking complete bikes here with these other two - I just didn't show the pic of the Viner because GVH only shows them that way - but the $1350 price is built up with Ultegra.
I really don't think I can afford custom anything - but I'd be happy to be proven wrong =)

I misunderstood, sorry. I didn't realize that was built up. And it is Palosanto. I pluralized it. As for the size you'd best check the geometry. I'm 6'4" and more leg than torso, but a 64 would stretch me way out in a standard geometry. I'd also look at the Cervelo Super Prodigy. A very sweet rig, and you might be able to get one in that range this time of year.
Also that Raleigh Zona tube bike is sweet on GVH. Save the 2 bills.
