hello...new to this site. have just learned that an old bike i have is perhaps collectable. would like to learn about it. so far i know it is a bridgestone kabuki ssd. measures 25" from crank center to top of center upright. s/n on botom of crank housing is D783496. any way to determine value of this bike?
it rides very smoothly and is straight and solid throughout.
any assistance would be greatly appreciated
Bridgestone/Kabubkid were good quality/solid/mid priced bikes back in the 80's Not sure if they eventually built bikes in Taiwan but you pretty much couldn't go wrong with the Japanese produced bikes. It's just like buying a Toyota or Honda, good quality at a great price. Not sure if Kabuki's will really be "collectible" if you're meaning that they might be expensive at some time in the future, because I suspect that they are like their auto counterparts. Good bikes, but not fancy enough and they may have made and sold jillions of them around the world. Higher priced/quality Japanese bikes like 3Renshos, Miyatas and Fujis will certainly be more collectible in the futre than Kabukis. In the end it all comes down to how much you value the bike yourself.

just curious 'cause a couple folks want to buy the SSD from me and i have no idea what it should fetch.
Moving this to Appraisals for you.
1. Where do you live?
2. Need close ups of crank, description of rims (they look like they are steel).
Around here, that bike would not have much value. But in some of the crazy markets, it would.

live in Iowa.
only things not original are tires, bars, grips, and brake levers. I think rims are stainless.
