Clydesdales/Athenas (200+ lb / 91+ kg) - Jeeze, I blew my diet tonight!

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

I grilled tonight and ate a 4 pound rare ribeye, a big baked potato with butter (real), and Sour Cream (Also real). I'm stuffed, satisfied and feelin' happy!

But isn't that one of the great compensations for riding a bicycle daily? We get to eat whatever we want.
hmmm.....a big, juicy steak does sound good.

A successful weightloss regimen includes the awareness that one really needs to indulge once in a while.

I blew mine yesterday, 3 Soft Taco Supremes and a steak quesadilla (sp?) for lunch. Today, right back on it. Only had some ribs and then a bunch of grilled squash and zucchini.

What is it with today? Your not the only one. I really binged tonight also since the wife is out of town. I went to Taco Bell, had 3 tacos and a burrito, then had 4 ears of sweet corn (hey they are in season!). Plan on hitting the road early tomorrow.

What's wrong with that meal? At least you had protein and complex carbs for the ride the next day!

It's ok last night I got into lancaster and tried eating the big pig banana split at son's italian ice. A $15 banana split served in a quart container with 6 bananas a quart of ice cream and topped by a full bottle of whipped cream.
I almost finished it, then failed in a very spectacular manner. You don't want to know.

I am like most here. I think going a good food "bender" every once in a while is a good thing. When I got down below 195 for the first time in years a few weeks ago, I celebrated with a food binge. :D It felt good to just let lose.

Today was a good day for food all around it seems, took a ride to a neighboring small town for their annual summer get together, then came back for my towns annual summer get together. So was a day filled with festival foods and finish it off with an ice cream cone filled with home made Butter Pecan.

A number of thoughts come to mind with your meal.
Rare rib eye!! What did you use the grill for?
Grill!! With yesterday's and today's 90 degree temps, I'm going no where near a grill.
4 pound rib eye!! That's a lot of meat. Hope that's before grilling and with bone in.
Gee, I wish you invited me over.

Oh well, all the fun and none of the guilt! LOL
Just don't make it a habit unless you want to burn your throat out, and melt the enamel off your teeth lol.

I had a small bowl of oatmeal this morning......I'm still full from the steak last night. :p
Tom, pardon the personal question, but isn't that a large amount of food for a person who had gastric surgery? I thought large meals had to be avoided.
Touring is the best excuse to indulge. And do I indulge!

Sweet potatoes, a burger, and a 32 oz "mockarita" at an African-American street festival on Legislative Square in Dover, DE. This is the stop where one of the vendors described me as "the man" for riding my bike so far with my camping gear. Five miles out of Dover I had a second lunch at Subway!

I'm far enough out now that I can eat a large meal, albiet very slowly. I also pay for it by not being hungry at all for a full day after. Needless to say, it doesn't happen very often, I can guarantee ya!

Wow..that crab pretzel looks sooooo good! We don't see things like that down here in Florida. It's amazing how much food styles change depending on the region you're in.

I slipped last night as well. I was good all day, but had an uncontrollable hunger later in the evening and ended up eating the slab of leftover meatloaf in the refrigerator. It was really good. I will be doing a long ride today to compensate. I guess I can be somewhat lucky I caved on a weekend.

All I have eaten in the past two days is pasta salad and cereal. It's so bad. Pasta salad is so good though. My best friend always says "Diet starts tomorrow!" :)

On the positive side (other than eating a delicious, wonderful meal), eating such a large meal has undoubtedly revved up your metabolism for the next couple of days.

seems everyone hit the problem I haeve been having the last few weekends, killing the diet *LOL*. This weekend was a camping weekend and I started it off with a sonic no 1 and peach milkshake... 1000 cals gone for the day *sigh* and we ended the day with 2 S'mores... Yummy but I ended up with a 2900 calorie day (calculating with my weight etc my bmr for sedentry is 2750 so only approx 200 over for maintenance that day bur 2000 cals more than I had wed or thur *sigh*) unsure as of cal count for Saturday as some details on phone in location I cant get to but today we hit taco bell at end of weekend and I did the volcano pack (minus the deep fried cinamon sticks - have to make sensible choices occasionally, still 12-4000 cals in one meal!!!!) Only got a semi casual 10 mile ride in but at least we got on bikes Yay this week was hell and I got nil on till then.

Funny thing - I noticed that every single time when I've been dieting and I hit a plateau for a few weeks, if I totally let loose, it reminds my body that it's not going to starve to death and it can let some extra fat cells go already!

I've had to alter my diet, and given up on getting below 200lbs.
Now, instead of watching what I eat, I let what I eat dictate how many miles I have to ride that night to work it back off.

This weekend I had 3 huge chicken tacos from a local place with fresh ingredients, two fish tacos that night, a huge roast beef and provologne sub the next day and miscellaneous amounts of vodka and varities of beer.
I still managed to go from 207 on Friday's weigh in to 203 today. :D

High five. :thumb:
I was in Colorado this weekend, visiting my family, when my wife and sisters surprised me with an early Birthday Bash (50yrs on the 28th this month...gah!) complete with Pizza and Ice Cream Cake.
Jeeze!
Talk about throwing a drowning man a glass of water!
At least I'd gone on a short (but climbing...at altitude) ride just before.
I like Tom's meal better though. It's much more healthy.
