Recumbent Bike and Trike Marketplace - In Search Of/ For Trade (No money offers here, read first post before posting)

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

We've created this thread in the spirit of the other for trade threads around the forum, which is members helping members with parts cluttering up their work spaces they dont need, for parts they do.

Conditions:

Items are for trade only
No cash offers or euphemisms for cash
Have an idea what you'd like in trade

In Search of Posts are the same conditions, what you need, and what you have for trade in form of parts.

Use this thread in good health. All members, registered or upgraded can respond in this thread, by the way.

Wanted: Tandem trike. For trade: upright tandem 08 Cannondale Road Bike.

This is probably a long shot, but I am would really like to obtain a tandem trike. I ride a lot with my 8 yo daughter and occassionally with my wife. We have a 3 person tandem that has been ridden for 4 years (not for trade) that was
seeing about 2,000 miles/year. We recently got a C'dale tandem (up for trade) for the little one and I. It only has about 500 miles on it total. It is a L/S with campy Centaur shifters.

My girl is great, but is certainly a fair weather rider. I want to commute with her a lot more, including on days that are rainy and/or cold. I commute by bike all the time, but I have a distinct resilience to adverse weather.
So, Although I bought this upright tandem, I am now deciding that I would much rather have a trike. The C'dale rides great, but I need something that I turn into a velomobile (a bent). I know that tandem trikes are expensive,
so the trade might not be even, but who knows? Maybe somebody has bought a new trike and would love to invest in the livelihood of a young family :)

My intention is to outfit a tandem trike with a full fairing made out of coroplast (on the bottom and sides) and PETG clear plastic for the top, creating a fully enclosed velomobile. I have been looking around for pictures,
but haven't seen any fully faired tandems, but I think I could do it. This would allow for 4 season all weather riding (except deep snow). it does not need to have independent coasting and it does not need to couple,
but it does need to be decent quality although I am very capable of any maintenance that would be required. As long as the frame is in good shape, I can do any kind of drivetrain/wheel/etc. repair.

Here's some pictures on the C'dale.

Thank you

I'm a bit confused. On this forum there are two stickies from Tom Stormcrowe, moderator. The first one states that the bike and trike marketplace forum must not be used to sell anything and goes so far as to say that even euphanisms for money are forbidden and then the other sticky says to put your price on the item that I have for sale. Which is it?

numule, it'll be interesting to see the answer to your question, but I suspect this means strictly bartering, with no money involved at all. You show photos of your bike or trike. The prospective new owner does the same, and you both decide whether it would be a fair trade involving no cash bargaining to make up for any perceived differences in value. That's just a guess. Doesn't seem like a good idea, though. May be hard to find two bike or trikes with exactly-matching values, and for both parties to agree. I'm confused about this, too!

Maybe this will clear up your confusion some. There are currently two sticky threads comprising the 'bent marketplace, which is a sub-forum for the main 'bent forum here on BF. The first of the two is for trades/swaps, no money allowed. The second one that says "Welcome" is the actual buy/sell thread where money is exchanged.

Basically, if you have something you no longer desire or require, then either put in the first thread to trade for something you do need/want or put a price on it in the second thread.

You can start a thread in the Marketplace forums as a classified for for sale products, but this requires an upgraded membership. You can upgrade at http://www.bikeforums.net/payments.php.

The for trade thread is a courtesy to all members who want to trade items for other items only.

I have a counterpoint presto recumbent bicycle frame which I purchased with a plan to built it up. The previous owner had it professionally repainted. Reality intruded in the form of my responsibilities as a dad. I installed a new headset, folding stem and handlebars. It has a comfy web seat and uses 20" 451 wheels and I have two brand new premium wheels with new tires and tubes. I would be willing to trade the frame and possibly the wheelset for something more practical: a "hike a bike", good 20" trike wheels rear or front (W/drumbrake or dynohub?), OCC Stingray parts, high grade mountain bike. I'm open to suggestion and would potentially be willing to meet up to arrange to swap our respective bits in the NY/NJ/PA/CT/MA area... These bikes sold for over $2000 new in the mid 90's. My latest blog post has pictures. http://homebrewhpv.blogspot.com/2011/07/gotta-clean-shop-and-make-room.html

Have: I have one Primo Champ II 19-349 tire 16x1 110 psi. A rare tire, haven't made them in ages

Want: I'd like to trade it for a stem for my stem collection. Prefer a "rare" or "unusual" stem, but let me know what you may want to swap

Want to trade - 2 wheels for three. I have a TW-bents Elegance (used to be sold as 'Action Bents' in the US).

27 speed, Avid BB7 disc brakes, pneumatic suspension, Large Volae seat bag included.

I'm looking for a delta trike, preferably a moderate performance model, with a good range of gearing. Just want something a little more sure footed for the occasional icy roads we get here.
