Texas - best wrench in DFW area?

Preferably as close to Fort Worth as possible. I have a high end carbon bike, and every time I take it in to have maintenance done at a couple local shops it never seems to come out well. I have a lot of changes I want to make on the bike and am willing to pay for it, but I'm tired of know-nothings screwing it up. I need someone who will actually listen to what I say I want done or is wrong and will actively work to fix it.

Suggestions?

yeah, I'm a big fan of doing your own wrenching. if you got the $ for a high end bike, then tools should be no problem for you.

Actually, I'm fairly mechanicaly inept. I do a lot of my own stuff, but when it comes to fine tuning and diagnosing I can never get it right. Plus I can either spend my little free time working or riding. I choose riding.

I don't know how far it is for you, but Totally Spoked (http://totallyspoked.com/) in Cleburne is a really good LBS. It is owned by a father & son team who listen and are very knowledgable.

Try Performance on south Hulen. We seem to be getting alot of people that have been run off from other shops because of attitiudes of the wrench crew. Come in and talk. If you aren't happy, no harm no foul.

Greggo, I wouldn't put myself in the class of a good pro mechanic, but there's not a lot on bikes that is that real tough to get set up. Give me a call later today. I'd be willing to bet I can help.

It's more a time thing than anything else, Steve. I want new cables run, wheels trued, bearings checked, new bar tape, and just a whole host of minor stuff.

Talk to Dylan. Anyone in the place can set up your repairs, but only two of us work on the bikes. Dylan is the wrench in charge.

Kevin over at KGS in Exposition Park is the best in the Metroplex.
He wrenches on super hight end CF bikes all of the time.

He used to ride the pro circuit in europe, lots of great stories.

Joel at RBS is great too, very approachable guy.

Are you talking about Kevin Tyree? If so, I remember him working on my MTB over at Wheels In Motion, and he was great...

Greg, the guys at Colonel's recently fixed a great problem for me. I had the rear dear.. adjusted a couple of times, and would then go on 60+ mile rides. Like you, I only have time to ride, and no time to tinker.

After going to Mad Duck and getting an adjustment, then Bikes Inc in Arlington for another (both shops I frequent), I went to Colonels last week to see if they could figure out why my gearing kept messing up. I have always gone to Colonels when I have needed serious wrench work, like wheel building, etc. You just can't beat Rick and The Colonel. Hands down, they are the best.

They had a different wrench working, named Aubrey (?). Anyway, when I came back, he had replaced the cable, and clipped off my old cable that had frayed in a spot I couldn't see. Barely charged me anything, and I had the best 65 mile ride I have had in weeks on Saturday! I honestly don't know why I go anywhere else. Those guys are consistently the best, and I've been using them since the late 90's.

ABSOLUTELY STUMPBLASTERS IN GLEN ROSE! We have tried RBM, Performance bike, Sun and Ski, etc and no one can work on a bike like them! Joe is a retired Navy Seal which makes him obsessive compulsive and superbly detail oriented. After he adjusted my Scott CR-1 no one else will ever edjust it again-the Look 595 goes in next week before HHH. He and his wife, Lisa, run the place and we think the wolrd of both of them.
