I have a 2008 Specialized Roubaix Comp Triple and want to upgrade the wheels from the original Shimano RS10's to Easton EA90 SL.
The Easton website says "The alloy freehub body must be fitted with cogs of the cassette type using an alloy carrier to retain the cogs".
The SRAM OG-1070 cassette that came with the bike has the first 3 sprockets on a spider, but I'm not sure if this would be a straight fit onto the Easton freehub or if some kind of adapter is needed - or whether they are incompatible.

I'd appreciate hearing of any experiences people have had with this. Thanks.

i'm pretty sure sram and shimano cassettes are interchangable. should just slide onto the free hub.

SRAM cassettes fit fine onto Shimano style hubs, so the cassette you have will fit.

The Easton freehubs are made of soft alloy. If you install a cassette composed of individual cogs that aren't mounted on a spider, the cogs will dig grooves into the Easton freehub's splines. It's worse with the bigger cogs, since they apply more torque when pedaling.

If the 3 biggest cogs are on a spider, the freehub splines won't get too messed up.

I have SRAM 10 speed 11-26 cassette, and it will not fit on my Eastons SL 90 wheels which have the new style 10 Speed cassette body, as it has taller splines, than the old style 9 speed cassette body.

If you are using aluminum cassette body wheels, you want the taller splines version, as the 10 speed cassettes will chew up the shorter 9 speed cassette body splines. IMHO aluminum cassette bodies are a bad idea, and Titanium or steel are a much better idea.
