I'm seriously thinking about building a fixie, and have the following frames to choose from - since I'm not big on brands, I wanted to get a few opinions: Keep in mind none of these have any components on them, so they're just bare frames. :)

Viner - it just says "Viner Pistolia" Professional ... (I couldn't read the rest of that. Professional Edition?) all of the decals are on over the clearcoat. That seems cheap, but I hear great things about the company. It was a really nice frame, great condition, very light. It doesn't have the big VINER on the down tube like most of the ones I see on-line - so I imagine it's an older year.

GlobalMaster "Scorcher" - I really liked the color of this one, kind of a mustard yellow. But I can't find ANYTHING about the brand. Anyone hear of it?

Look for frames that have a road geometry, rather than a pure track frame. Track ends or deep dropouts are a plus. I just converted a Schwinn Le Tour to up my total to four fixies. It's a pure addiction now!!! ;)

For some reason, it hasn't posted my reply like three times. I'm going to try "quick reply" and see if it works. Anyone else having this problem?

What's the difference between a road bike and a track bike? I went to sheldonbrown and found a description, something about road bikes having a more "vertical" geometry. I tried looking up some road and track bikes online to compare, but they looked the same to me. It doesn't look like something I can tell just by looking at a frame on the wall. I didn't see track ends on the Viner frame (or any of the others, I looked) is there anything else I can look out for?

Also, I swear I read somewhere that I can use a regular freewheel hub with a fixed sprocket/track cog (like, from surly (http://http://www.surlybikes.com/parts.html).) But now I can't find where I read that, and I want to make sure before I order it. :)

I'm leaning towards the Viner frame, but I'm still trying to find info on the GlobalMaster (that sounds like such a cheap-sounding brand name though!)
