When I ride my road bike with goat horn handle bars I definetely get a real rush
from the exercise as compared to a Mountain bike or my new Raleigh Comfort SC40
There is something about leaning forward on the road bike that makes for a better
form of exercise? Has anyone else noticed this phenomena?

You generaly have a better center of gravity position as far as handling goes. Maybe a little less weight on the seat. The ergonomics may well just allow you to put more go into it. road bikes are meant for long hard runs where MTB design is more about technical riding for shorter periods and very short time in any one position. Thats all I can come up with.

Sometimes I think it is just the extra speed that makes it feel so much better, I love riding my mountain bike on the gravel roads and some pavement to stay out of traffic but the road bike is a need for speed eliminator.

Its more comfortable on the long rides and perhaps thats why .
Old thread but interesting. In the lower position, the head would be receiving more blood than if you were in a more upright position. With all that great oxygen coming from deep breathing, although most is going to your legs, your brain would be getting a healthy dose as well. Just a theory.
