So I was riding home tonight on my Hardrock Sport and was feeling good, going a little quicker than normal and peddaling a little harder. I was at a stop light right by my apartment and the light changed so I was hurrying across because there was a truck waiting to make a Left going the opposite way, so I stood up and got 2 strokes into the light and then it felt like my chain came off. I thought shoot I got across the light and looked down and it was a little worse than my chain came off. I guess tomorrow i'll be stopping by the LBS to get some work done.

Hmmm, I play a little different with my equipment. I downshift before stooping . When the light turns green, I spin like a MOFO across the intersection. I depend on legspeed rather than standing and trying to power my way across for that reason. 95% of the time I will beat traffic across the intersection from a deadstop.

Yeah, I downshifted I guess just not enough, this Chain Ring already had a small bend in it, so I should have been a little bit more careful with it, was just waiting for payday to drop it off for a replacement

One routine maintenance check can prevent most bent chainrings: Check your chainring bolts when you clean your chain. If the bolts are getting loose, the ring can develop play on the spider and *schpang!* that's enough to mangle it like that under a heavy load.

Well, went to the LBS and talked to the owner...its nice that they are also the Sponsor for the cycling team/club at the school I go to, so he gave me a deal on a slightly used crank and new crank arm. So I borrowed a crank puller from a guy on the team and installed it this afternoon, figured it was a good time since it was raining cats and dogs outside anyways.
