Hello,

I'm new to the forum and hoping someone will be able to shed some light on a recent acquisition. The other day I picked up a Camel 10 speed with Shimano Eagle componenets. The registration tag on the bike is for 1975-1976, so I'm guessing it was manufactured within one or two years of that time. I've not been able to find any information on the manufactuer of this bicycle and would greatly appreciate any info you all may have.

Thanks!

Welcome to the forum!

Shimano Eagle derailleurs are usually a sign of a dept. store / entry level bike. It can be hard to find specific info on most of these bikes.

Shimano Eagle was typically used on entry level bikes.

Without pics, I am assuming your bike is an entry level, department store bike from the bicycle boom era. Back then, there were waiting lists to just get a bike, almost any bike. So every store sold bicycles, many of them just relabeled from others. I bought my first bike from a lawn mower repair shop during that era!!

Since there were so many brands back then, and few of them built the bikes, you will be hard pressed to find much info.

Thanks for the input. I figured there wouldn't be much information available on this one, but I thought I'd give it a shot!

I have a vague memory of seeing these in the 70s and remember they had something unusually about them. Maybe it was an odd clunky cast lug setup. I remember they were department store bikes. Maybe Taiwanese???
