Classic & Vintage - 700c 3 speed coaster brake wheel...

I really am not picky about what hub in particular, just wondering if anybody knows of a source. They seem to be standard issue on Scandinavian mixte city bikes of which I have had a few. Looking for this might actually get me into wheel building...

statru wheels makes a 3 speed cb 700c wheel I think it is laced to cr-18
any quality bike parts / J&B / Cyclone dealers should be able to take care of you

Build your own will most likely be the best way to go. I have all but given up on finding ready to go wheels in the configurations I need. Besides a properly done hand built wheel is going to outlast most if not all machine built wheels.

again call up you lbs and see if they can order prebuilt wheels from one of the distributors I listed above
see if you can get the sturmey archer awc as the shimano inter3 has primarily a grip shift for mtb sized bars

definately a valid option the hub goes for 75-85 usd a rim is going to be 30usd and spokes are usually 15usd for a 36h build do something fun like crows foot and have a good time at it

Did I mention this is going on a Colnago (oh lord, don't kill me). The frame has had a head-on and now has track geometry as a result. so I am not so bad. Will a coaster brake arm trash a chain stay?

no just use a little scrap of old inner tube to protect the stay

Several of the online bike parts places will build you a wheel. A lot of the European bikes come with either Shimano or Sachs hubs. Shimanos are easier to get here. For simplicity I prefer the Shimano. It uses a bell crank and push rod rather than a screw in rod wiith a chain that the others employ. The bell crank also protects the end of the axle from damage. As for which rim, you can reuse your current rim if it's still good or get a new one as similar to the front one as possible, or even get a new front wheel done up with a dynamo in it like the European bikes often have at the same time. There is really no limit to what you can do. You could even put an SRAM S7 hub in the back for far better gearing. For authenticity you should use a hub with a coaster brake which is standard fare on European commuter bikes. Internally geared hubs with coaster brakes are also impervious to weather conditions which comes in handy when it's wet out because you can still stop. You can also shift them while stopped as opposed to derailleur systems which must be in motion to be shifted.
