I can't tell one of these from the other. Seller says this is Record and I am looking for some confirmation. Can anyone shed any light on this please? Seller has good feedback. Thanks!

Looks like a 70's or 80's Nuovo Record to me.

Those are the one's we didn't buy back in those days. Tange came out with their Levin headset (still made today) - which were every bit as good and much cheaper. I agree with Bianchigirll etal that it's a Campy Record.

FYI, posting something you want to bid on here is a bad idea. I found that out the hard way.
Good luck, tho.

FYI, bidding too high on something that you're not sure about is a worse idea. I found that out the hard way! Besides, I don't think there's anyone on this forum that cares what I'm bidding on. How's that Arizona weather been treating you?

Bob, I'm in MI at the moment, but taking a quick trip out there next week to ride with friends in the AM &PM, and nap and soak in the pool the rest of the time.
I'd rather have 100* and low humidity than 90* and matching humidity.

Looks like the steel record strada used in the nuovo record group. Is that a "basic" record headset? Still learning here.

That is the basic workhorse from the 60's through the 80's. There was also a tiny bit cheaper version for the grand sport grouppo that was used through the 80's as well. Top drawer was the alloy super record. They are all pretty good headsets, and better quality than the Levin copy, but not by that much.

Ditto to the NR headset replies. I have one right now on my Frankenbike.

The only advantage the Super Record headset had over the Record is weight, but the SR crown race was notably more fragile than the Record. Both used 3/16" balls. The Sport headset was virtually identical to the Pista headset; both used 5/32" balls (as did the Levin) and thus were marginally less durable than the SR/Record units.
