I'm converting an 83' Fuji Sagres over to 600 STI and need:

1. suntour or shimano double housing downtube stop

2. inline cable adjuster

3. 7 spd. freewheel - thread on (preferably new)

Let me know what the part costs and if you're willing to ship USPS airmail up to Toronto, Canada.

Clamp-on housing stop? or will downtube adapters work?

By downtube adapters do you mean the ones that thread into the braze ons?

My downtube shifters are clamp on style, and I need a clamp on style housing stop.

shaggy, I've got a DT cable stop. I just got home from being on the road since last Friday. I'll get unpacked and decompress and look through my stuff; I do believe I've got both Shimano and Suntour.

I can probably get just about all these things and ship them via Canada Post for very little money although the barrel adjuster is something I don't have.... but...

Go to MEC if you want a 7 speed freewheel... they have them in stock and they cost all of $12.00

There must be an LBS in TO that carries the rest.

Thanks for the reply. I was at MEC earlier tonight to pick up the suntour freewheel remover tool and they did'nt have any 7 spd freewheels in stock.

I was preferably looking for a ultra spaced 7 speed wheel but did not mention that in my first post. I just figured that setting up a post and getting all of this stuff shipped from one person/location would be ideal.

You wouldn't believe how many of the local bike shops around here don't have any freewheels or know anything about them, saying they can only get mtb versions in and so on. They definately don't have down tube clamp on cable stops.

I've just been frustrated with hunting down one locally after being turned away numerous times that I opted to go directly to my vintage and classic supplier, the bike forums.

Well, why didn't you say so - that's a horse of a different color!

I have a 12-26 Suntour Winner Pro 7-spd that isn't perfectly NOS but is in excellent condition. It's the same height as a generic 6-spd Suntour and the last 4 cogs are more closely spaced than than the first 3 so I assume it's the ultra-7 spacing. I'm pretty sure I have a cable stop but I'm not sure about the in-line adjusters, actually I don't even know exactly what they are! PM me if you're interested.

Ultra-7 means the width of the freewheel is that same as a regular 6.

I think I have one too in a 13-24 or something... but it's used... but these suntours do last, I have rebuilt them a number of times as well and you can add those paper thin metal washers from another freewheel to take out play if the body is a little worn... really it's a fun exercise.
