Hey all, sorry for the delay between posts. I've been pretty busy with the wedding just a month away, and settling in to work. Plus, we've been working out pretty hard for the past few weeks, with our next (my fiancees first) triathlon just a month away.
We've been riding, running, or swimming (and often two of the 3) several days a week. Took a few days off last week to do some other stuff, but we've basically been getting in between a minimum of 50 miles a week, and still managing to swim a little open water before our gym membership starts in a couple weeks.
I haven't made a ton of progress in terms of actual pounds lost, but I am definitely building a better body. The swimming has brought me a lot of upper body strength which I expect to grow even more when I'm swimming 5 or 6 days this winter in the pool. I've lost a few pounds in preparation for the wedding, and Im going to try to drop another 10, which should be easy.
It'd be easier if we werent trying out all the new restauarants by where we live. I've had to work out pretty hard to burn off all the damn food LOL. Especially the number of desert and burger joints around here. Ive found some healthy stuff (Berryline is a fat guys desert heaven, plenty of low cal healthy choices with fresh fruit) and some less than healthy stuff (UBurger makes some damn fine meat).
But the big news is that I can run now. Not for long, and not terribly fast, but I can run. I am moving to larger intervals (3 walk 3 run, or 3 walk 2 run) and slowly getting stronger and faster. My first 5k road race in almost a year is this weekend, and I'm planning on shooting for a PR. It'll be close, but I think I can do it.
On the biking front, I've got parts coming in to move to a flatbar that will allow me to use clip on aero bars. I'm stoked because this will help me with one of the biggest issues I have with riding, lowering my wind profile. Between that and the wetsuit I'm trying to settle on, I'm making some technical progress to match my increasing fitness.
