Yesterday I was cruising to the bank on my '84 Trek fixed gear and stopped at a yard sale because there was an old unicycle on the lawn.
Since I can ride one, and it looked cool, I stopped to see what the deal was. Unfortunately, it was rusted like there's no tomorrow and the wheel had been somewhat tacoed. But the worst part was the saddle...at one time it was a Brooks!
It was so far gone it almost made me cry. I though wow a Brooks, cool find and then I noticed the HUGE cracks throughout. I don't think any amount of Proofide could save it.
The kicker was the guy wanted $50 for the thing. I chuckled and said I would have gladly paid that if the saddle was in decent shape. He said he got it for a friend to hang on the wall in his bar. But the bar closed almost before it opened and he was stuck with it.
Oh well, there's always another yard sale.
