My husband is training for RAGBRAI so he is putting in more miles this year. He bought a pair of Trico Men's Extra Large gel gloves and after riding the circulation is being cut off. He had a hard time taking them off after the ride. Anyone know of a brand of gel gloves that are really big. He also wears a size 13 shoe-extra wide, any suggestions for a SPD type shoe? Sorry for the typo, the thread title should say "Gloves". oops.

What he ended up doing was cutting out the separations between the fingers. Looks like a Hobo, but his hands were getting numb, he needed gloves and didn't have a choice.

He doesn't have Ergo shifters does he?

Seriously, I don't know about gloves, but I do know about shoes as I also wear a 13 wide. Sidi Genius 4 Megas. Prepare for the sticker shock: approximately $200.

Now, consider that any foot pain he has will be a thing of the past. These shoes alter the riding experience completely. To keep it short, they are worth $200 and so much more. Of all the money that can be spent on cycling gear (and I've shelled out, believe me), this was the best $200 I've spent, period.

My preference is for Look pedals too. I had SPDs, but I believe the smaller platform was at the root of my foot pain. Look pedals have a larger platform, which in my experience, helps to alleviate the pain in my caveman feet.

I've been pain free since the switch to Look pedals and the Sidis (purchased at the same time). Something had to change, so I changed everything.

Ditto. Genius 4 Megas. However, you can get them for $165 US out the door from a UK seller on eBay. Gotta be some retail arbitrage between Italy-UK-US conversion...anyway, $159+15shipping-6%off for using their secure site w/credit. I'm sure there are others, you just have to look around.

GCasillo is right, these are the best shoes, although I wear 48 std width with Look pedals.

I wear a size 14-1/2, and wear a pair of normal Sidi Genius 4's, it's a great shoe. As for gloves, I wear fingerless Pearl Izumi's, I think they're just regular larges and they fit fine.

Get cheap gloves, they stretch like crazy.

Pearl Izumi White Line XL's are pretty darned big. I've got big hands and they get a little loose when they get sweaty. As for shoe width you've gotta go a long way to beat the Sidi Genius 4 Mega's.
