Hello Classic & Vintage. My name is Dave and I usually hang out over in SS/FG. My wife came home tonight with an older Schwinn World Tourist that she rescued from a neighbor's garbage and I was wondering if anyone over here knew anything about it. It's only partially complete and has a bent fork and handlebars (it looks like someone backed over it) but the frame looks quite nice. Crankset and front wheel are gone. Everything else looks exactly like the pic below (including color).

Serial # is 3197051 and it has all the original decals including the safety warnings, original shop sticker (Skyline Schwinn - Charlottesville, VA) and a small sticker near the left rear dropout reading "Schw APP GIANT".

I'm thinking it will make a nice restoration after finding an appropriate replacement fork. Is it worth it?

Your wife brings home old bike for you? SEXY!

Mine says something more like, "What are you going to do with THAT bike?"

Yeah...luckily for me, she's really into bikes too. She's also a musician, which makes the fact that I play in a touring band a lot easier.

The little lady isn't much of a cook, though...but I guess a guy can't realistically have everything!

:D

You're a cyclist and a musician ... hmmm ... very good combination (imho).

So what? You don't eat while you ride, do ya? Besides, anybody can learn the microwave system: "5" and "minutes"!
Hope you can rebuild that Schwinn.

Nice tall frame! And while my wife doesn't bring home bikes, she's a helluva good cook, and she doesn't bat an eye when I bring home another bike.
