Singlespeed & Fixed Gear - How to Convert Cruiser to Fixie

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.
So what is the cheapest way? Could I just get a new rear hub?

Cool coaster set up. If you want a fixed wheel bike, you need to get a wheel with a fixed cog, or build one. As for cheap, you can find wheels for ~$100.

Step 1: Throw cruiser off a cliff.
Step 2: Buy a fixed gear bike.
just kidding... keep the cruiser. coaster brakes are cool.
couldnt I just get a new fixed cog and hub and replace it?
You could rebuild your wheel with a new hub, if you're lucky the spoke lengths will be the same and you could re-use them. Seems just as easy and not much more cost to get a new wheel and keep the coaster brake wheel so you can change back if you want. Either way, new wheel, new hub, a wheel build is going to happen.

We're talkin' cruiser, as in beach cruiser, right? If so, you're gonna have to set up a front brake. My friend put together one of these. The way a cruiser frame is designed it puts all the weight in the back making it very difficult to engage a skid. I guess you could ride a really small ratio but the bikes gonna be rather heavy in general compared with a common fixed gear and thus have more inertia.
its actually a road bike, it looks alot like the oso bike but it isnt
