Okay this may sound dumb. But what size shorts should i get. My pants are a 32 but they are a little loose and I normally wear a belt. When I go to order my shorts should i also order a 32 or should I order exactly the size of my waist?

Have you checked manufacturer's sizing charts? I wear a size small for cycling shorts and have a 29 in waist. You might be borderline medium, but that shouldn't be too hard to figure out.

You could go to the LBS and try on some shorts. Of course, if you do that, I recommend you actually buy a pair. It is not fair to the LBS to use their service and then run off and order it off of the internet.

ditto, for a couple of reasons. for mens shorts, manufacturers seem to have different ideas of, well, what it means to be a man. i've tried on shorts that fit everywhere, but were excruciatingly tight in the frontal central area. a good shop should have a wide selection of brands. try on several and buy one from the LBS. yeah, you'll pay more, but you're paying for the convenience of trying them on. then order subsequent pairs online.

oh, and by most accounts, the $120 shorts that most manufacturers have are worth well more than the $40 they cost over the $80 shorts. you get what you pay for.
